    Hey everyone,

After searching around and not finding much documentation, I wanted to share my successful installation of GR Corolla front brake calipers on my 2024 Prius Prime (XW60). This was a passion project to improve braking performance and bring a little GR spirit to the new Prime platform.

    Why I Did It:

While the stock brakes are fine for daily driving, they fall short during aggressive driving or spirited downhill runs. I wanted stronger, more consistent braking with a firmer pedal feel and better heat resistance.

    What I Used:

    • GR Corolla 4-piston front calipers (Advics)

    • Girodisc slotted GR Corolla front rotors

    • OEM GR caliper brackets (no adapter needed)

    • Forge Motorsport Brake Line Kit for the GR Corolla 2023+ (SBH-TOY-4-117)

    • ATE TYP 200 DOT 4 brake fluid

    • SMOTIVE PRO pressure bleeder

    Installation Notes:

    • GR calipers bolt directly onto the Prius Prime knuckle using OEM GR caliper brackets – no adapter bracket needed (though I had purchased one from 350phi).

    • GR rotors required slight modification: I used a Dremel to bore out the center to 62mm for perfect fitment.

    • I pulled back the front dust shields to avoid rubbing—no cutting was required.

    • The GR calipers will hit the OEM 19” Prius Prime wheels without a spacer. I used 11mm spacers to clear the spokes.

    Brake Line Fitment:

    • Installed the Forge GR brake line kit (SBH-TOY-4-117). These lines are less flexible than OEM, so I couldn’t route them through the factory brackets. For now, they are secured with zip ties until I find a cleaner solution.

    Bleeding Process:

    • Flushed system with ATE TYP 200 DOT 4 fluid

    • Used SMOTIVE PRO pressure bleeder

    • Did not run auto bleed—manual bleed only: RR > LR > RF > LF

    EPB Function:

    • Put the car into maintenance mode before working on the rear brakes (found a tutorial on YouTube—can’t remember exact steps). No EPB errors afterward.

    Brake Codes/Errors:

    • Got a C1202 Brake Reservoir Level code after brake fluid leaked during install

    • The code cleared on its own after 2 days of normal driving

    Results:

    • Significantly firmer pedal feel

    • Much stronger initial bite and better high-speed stopping power

    • No rubbing, no leaks

    • Ride is still very comfortable, even with upgraded suspension and big brakes

    Other Mods Installed:

    • GR front & rear performance dampers

    • RS-R lowering springs

    • Cusco rear sway bar and rear brace

    • DBA 4000 series rear rotors w/ EBC YellowStuff pads (painted red to match front calipers)

    • Forge Motorsport Brake Line Kit (GR Corolla 2023+)

    • GR front/rear spoiler, door latches, license plate holders

    • XPEL tint

    • GR side window visors

    • K&N high-flow air filter

    • RAYS VOLK RACING TE37 SAGA S-PLUS 19x8.5 +38 (Japan-made, currently in production) wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

    • Nextbase IQ front and rear dash cam

    • Lightweight lithium 12V battery

    Want to Try This?

Feel free to ask questions—happy to help others thinking about doing the same! Also, if you know anyone else who’s attempted this swap (or done the rear), I’d love to hear from them.

Thanks for reading—I’ll try to keep this post updated as I continue testing and tuning.

Do you have pics with the TE37s? Those are definitely a dream wheel for this platform and I’d love to see them

Don’t have them yet. Just got an update and I’m expected to receive them the second half of July. I’ll definitely post some pictures once I get them on.

I switched to an Ohmmu Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) 12V battery designed specifically for Prius models.

    Make/Model

    • Ohmmu LiFePO₄ 12V

    • Direct replacement for the OEM lead-acid battery

    • Plug-and-play—no modifications needed

    Fitment

    • Works perfectly in the 5th-gen Prius (including Prius Prime)

    • Terminals, dimensions, and mounting points match factory specs

    • Integrates seamlessly with the car’s systems

    In-Use Results & My Opinion

    • Lightweight: Shaves off around 20–25 lbs compared to the stock battery

    • Steady Voltage: No flickering lights or random system errors

    • Fast Charging & Better Retention: It charges quickly and holds its charge longer when parked. I’m currently running the IQ cam when I’m parked and so far haven’t had any issues. However, wouldn’t recommend leaving your car with the cam on for more than one night.

    • Longevity: Advertised to last 2–3 times longer than standard batteries

    • Maintenance-Free: No corrosion, no fuss, and more eco-friendly

    • Real-Time Monitoring: You can download Ohmmu’s companion app and see your battery levels in real time, which is super handy to keep an eye on performance

Did this brake swap retain regenerative braking? Not familiar with the machinism in for it and wondering what has to be kept to retain it.

Yes, regenerative braking is fully retained. It’s controlled by the hybrid ECU and doesn’t rely on the brake calipers. Swapping in GR Corolla brakes only affects friction braking. Regen still works the same since it’s handled by the electric motor, not the hardware. Just make sure everything’s installed and bled properly.

Perfect fit. Much smaller and lighter than stock battery.

Im interested in the GR front and rear dampers...

I just ordered the eibach por-kit lowering springs and I'm eyeing the GR BBS wheels.

So far I like all the mods you have done like the new battery!

Sorry, I always like to rain on these parades....:sneaky:

If the stock brakes bring the tires to the verge of ABS application, how can these new brakes do anything differently?

Sure,, 'Brake Fade on the Track' will be better...

Face it, the main thing is these are all Purty Mods!(y)

And I'm sure your AutoX times are better with bigger tires and stiffer shocks, correct? So also they're also a Performance Mod.
But the ride has to be much harsher with very low profile tires and stiffer shocks....(n)
