Original plan was to do so. He ended up selling stock for it; $15.5bil. The rest came from other investors, and loans against Twitter. How Elon Musk financed his $44bn Twitter takeover | Business and Economy | Al Jazeera
Sure like they did https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/banks-sell-down-more-x-debt-just-13bln-now-left-their-books-2025-02-14/ T1 Terry
That’s why I have never done business with any of those banks, they are run by criminals who keep getting a pass from government
Ummm ..... and the difference between hem and other financial institutions is ...... what exactly? T1 Terry
The govt held a banking enquiry over here, none of them came out clean, just some not as bad as the others .... by a fairly fine margin ...... Once employed an ex bank teller who was the mother of a friend's kids ..... thought I'd finally be free of the crooks I'd hire as office staff in the past, including the ex wife .... they were all saints compared to this woman, she knew how to work the reverse ledger double book keeping that the banks use, so my accounting system looked easy to "manipulate" didn't realise it did a similar reverse ledger book keeping system that remained hidden in the background .... that was how they all had been caught before ..... Show me an honest banker or politician or insurance executive, and I'll show you that just means they haven't been fully investigated yet ..... dodgier than a used Tesla salesman T1 Terry
Received this one from the wife, a comment in a TikTok post about not being able to get insurance for their Cybertruck A recent survey showed out of 300 Cybertrucks, 297 were still on the road ...... the other 3 made it back home somehow .... I wonder what the plan is to get these things off the inventory list if they are uninsurable or banned, depending on the country ........ I can' imagine how bad those that were early adopters feel right now, you couldn't even park it somewhere to get fire bombed if you can't insure it before hand ...... T1 Terry
I think that is a rare event. I have heard this story, but have not heard from any CT owners in the MN Tesla club that ran into this issue. If it becomes more than a fluke, I agree it would dampen sales.
Smaller, local banks may be ‘less bad’, but until they are indicted and prosecuted for obviously illegal schemes like the larger institutions, it’s all I have to go on. We use credit unions as well , when they are competitive
I was at the Tesla location by me today for a question or two about some minor service issues. I could hardly find an open parking spot (there were 2 open spots) among the several parking lots they own. The place was ripe with about 150 model Y's (not Junipers) and also about 20 Cybertrucks. Mind you, this was one of a dozen Tesla locations around the Chicago area, so this bulging inventory is duplicated times that many, at least. They also park cars in remote locations as well. I thiiiiink there might be a demand issue? Waiting to see what the very last minute deals will be as they close out this dismal quarter. Maybe they'll cook the books like it appears they might have done up in Canada. EDIT: The Tesla site claims there are no more model (non-Juniper) Y's in inventory within 200 miles of me. B.S. They are chocked full of them.
We should have the 2025 Q1 sales numbers by Wednesday, April 2. Thes were the numbers from 2024 Q1: Bob Wilson
Fortunately that kind of criminal behavior is mostly limited to the kinds of areas that would also initiate (mostly peaceful but fiery demonstrations lol) burning down their cities ah la George Floyd riots. After that criminal insanity, did those areas no longer get insurance? well then? High chance that using tictok as a news outlet that claims teslas are now uninsurable is pretty suspect. As a kid, we lived in a sort of garden community .... very well kept, yet by no means high-end. But as the neighborhood became more crime infested, good neighbors moved out & the businesses & a lot of Commerce began leaving as well. It makes sense. Why should (for example) Walmart stay in a community where way too many thugs come & destroy or rob you of your merchandise. It ain't a Tesla problem, it's a thug problem which is often a (lack of) parenting problem.
If the system progressively dumbs down the population, they look for leadership. Trump was a master at it, I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn the frustration toward Ford and GM for stuffing up his big plan to nationalise the vehicle manufacturing in the US, so they built the cars he thought should be built to support all the associated corporations like big oil and internal combustion engine building ..... a bit like East Germany before the wall came down. I guess he is a tad lost at the moment, all the plans he was told would work, have backfired on him, so he will continue to lash out and so will the under educated .... they have last faith in Trump, but they still have a full tank of frustration they need to empty ...... "haves" will be the next target for the "have nots" who now probably believe the "haves" only got their riches from taking it away from the "have nots" and as the prices for basic food and household items goes up, along with the rent, yet their low paying jobs are vanishing ..... they have a lot of free time available to get some of the anger and frustration out in the only way they know how ..... wrecking stuff the owned by the "haves" ....... Just like tipping tea into the harbour as a sign of frustration, the masses are gunna rise up, and anywhere that looks like it's doing well, will be their target ...... Messing with the low income peoples lives is never going to work out well for anyone, doing it to a whole country ..... T1 Terry
Should read " I saw 3 that were for the Cybertrucks on the way to Florida" now that would be headline worthy T1 Terry
I went to look at configuring a MY today. $61k pre tax, plus mats, charger, home wiring, and who would insure it in this political climate. DIL crashed in her Ford PHEV this week when someone made a left turn in front of her. Bruised but OK. Totaled. Picked up a Rav4 prime PHEV Friday used from Car-Max. Takes a lot of miles to recover the $14k pre-tax she didn't spend on a Muskmobile. They already have a MY for his commute. Solar too.
