hi. I just purchased a 2015 Prius two from a private seller who put the sodium ion next power hybrid battery in it about 2 1/2 years ago now and it was running fine when I got it but after two weeks, it came on with the codes of the hybrid battery failing so I took it to Toyota. They said it is module three and that I need to replace the entire battery back. They also tried to tell me that the original battery was still in there. I messaged the original owner and he showed me the old original OEM battery pack that was in my vehicle. He has it at his house and the battery pack that I have in here is the correct when he did tell me. So now that I see, he actually did replace it with the next power sodium ion hybrid, battery pack 2 1/2 years ago I decided to buy the Dr. Prius app and a OB2 sensor reader thing. I have attached screenshots below and I am wondering what I need to do because I just paid cash for this vehicle and it took all my cash. I don’t have the money to buy a full battery pack let alone get rid of the sodium ion battery pack if I can just replace a cell or a module. I have spent a lot of time reading the forums and trying to figure out what to do, however, I do not see where I am able to either rebalance the sodium ion pack or replace a module or individual cells. This battery pack is supposed to last at least another 6 to 8 years. When I purchase it, I didn’t expect it to immediately go out. I also purchased it as is. I am super smart and have worked on cars before I don’t mind trying to put a cell in or module or rebalance it myself, however when I reached out to the company I found online that you can recharge the hybrid battery and rebalance it with a kit that’s like $800, they said that they are not sure that it would work on the sodium ion battery that it would work on nickel ones and that’s what it’s made for. So I am now in a pickle. Any help I deeply appreciate, I am super excited to be a part of this community. From everything I have seen my values and morals align with this community, and I am ecstatic to have found a place I belong. I am hoping you all can give me some guidance or tips to fix my situation. also I uploaded the photos in order. This is over the past week since I have got my reader plugged in and when I have been driving it. I noticed that when I am stopped with the break all the way it keeps saying that I am getting zero MPG or on my little screen. It shows -100. I’m still trying to understand and figure this all out. It does show my engine constantly running if I don’t reset the codes. I have only reset it once.
I would contact jack at nexpower. But first, you might want to confirm that it isn’t the oem pack. The owners ‘proof’ is just his word
true! He sent me pictures with the oem in the nexpower box. I will take a look to see what’s in my car now.
you might be right!!! He put the second version of the battery in diy style. Is the second version lithium?
2 years ago @jacktheripper ( Jack ) was on his version 2 lithium or version 2.5 lithium packs. the Sodium Ion pack is new this year. I think there might still be some documentation for the old version 2 and 2.5 packs in the Documentation section. But, most of those pages and youtubes seem to be missing the last time I looked. The nexpower FAQs page still has some version 2.5 information and a picture of the 2.5 version module. FAQs– NexPower Energy So, it's really now up to you to figure out what the seller told you and what the dealers shop told you to see who's less wrong. They can't both be right, and the time line you mentioned above "2 and a half years old Sodium Ion" (Jacks Version 3.0 ) pack, doesn't match the timeline of Jacks releases. But it could be Version 2.5 which is a LiFePo4 pack. Or it could be OEM like the dealer told you, according to your post above. If you have the sellers name, Jack will have a record of the purchase.
Hi @Nightfoxx First generation V3 sodium-ion battery (cylindrical shape) was out 15 months ago. second generation V3 GT was out 12 months ago. 2 1/2 ago was the discontinued Lithium-ion battery, FYI.
