Hey everyone, reaching out for any ideas on what to check on my 2009 prius that jolts and clinks when slowing down or accelerating from a stop. I recently changed out the lower control arm assembly, front ball joints, cv axles, outer steering tie rods, and all the motor mounts. I got an alignment, everything seems tight, feels tight. Still having trouble pinpointing the source of the noise. We got it up on ramps and rocked it, but that didn't replicate the sound. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Welcome to PriusChat.... Can you write a few more sentences about what you mean when you say: "jolts and clinks when slowing down." Please be as specific and detailed as possible, especially when it comes to location this stuff is coming from.
yeah, of course, thanks for letting me know. The sound and feeling is coming from front end of the vehicle, feels like under the floor of the gas pedal/ passenger's side floor. The sound happens sometimes when I turn both left and right, but not exclusively then. I forgot to mention we also switched out the front sway bar for a beefier 2009 corolla one with the same subframe. All the bolts were tightened and ensured bushings were on tightly. For the axle nuts- we ensured to torque and stake the nuts so I'm not thinking that's an issue.
Well, I guess you ought to check CV joint/axles and bearings and see if you can find any tell tale symptoms for those problems? Can you easily replicate the noise? Preferably get it to make the noise while getting someone else to drive and you walking/running alongside to see if you can get more clear on where its coming from... I wonder what @ChapmanF would suggest?
