Got my "new" 2021 Prime Limited with 75k miles from upstate NY just a couple of weekends ago and am excited to get to know this car! I will miss my pearl white 2011 Prius 3 with 200k, but will do my best to find it a good home.

    Some questions:
    1. What maintenance stuff should I do immediately or put on my to do list? (It has a fresh oil change from the dealer)
    2. Does anyone have a good phone mounting system that doesn't involve the vents? The wireless charging doesn't work with my iPhone 16.
    3. Any solution to mount a spare tire in the trunk? Guess I'll do the backseat thing if necessary. Not sure I want to rely upon fix a flat stuff, or should I?
    4. Any recommended car cleaning accessories? Got it detailed and want to keep it clean. My white Prius always looked decent unless it was dirty dirty. This car is shiny, which is great, but also shows dirt very easily.
    5. Been trying to find *rear seat* rubber floor mats, but they all seem to only be in sets. It came with some nice Huskys for the front, but the rears have no floor mats. I would like to avoid spending a lot.
    6. Any tips on repairing chips in the paint?
    7. The rear window has no wiper! Does rain-x or the like actually work? It doesn't rain much here, so not too worried.. but...
    8. Any relevant tips, please share!

    1. clean out that center hatch rain gutter - If it gets clogged up it'll leak into the interior.
    2. associated with above; Strip everything out of the trunk, make sure you don't have any leaks or standing water.
    3. Do an ATF change
    4. Do a brake fluid flush
5 Tint the glass with ceramic tint - prevents the hot sun from discoloring your interior and burning the neck of your rear seat occupants.

FWIW; I got both carpet and rubber mats in my LE, when I bought it new. It wasn't an add-on. I thought it was strange, when I found carpeted mats under the rubber ones. Also got a carpeted trunk mat - bought a rubber trunk mat. .

    Hope this helps.....

    thanks for the tips!!

    1- will do
    2- good idea!
3 and 4- any particular reasons why?
5- was going to do regular cheap tint on monday. Got by with that in my 2011 for 14 years. I'll see how much ceramic is- rarely get rear seat passengers.
Nice! I did get the PRIME logo'd carpet mat in the trunk. Thought about buying the rubber one, but will wait to see if this one gets worn out.

oh, question: do you all stick to 0w16?

    thanks again!

I am going to second the suggestion for modern ceramic window covering. I got "just about" legal tinting done on day 3. I can't see into any window but the windshield. And I cover that with a sun shade. I'm good with the fix a flat option since my AAA roadside service handles most issues. I do carry a usb charging battery jump starter. And have used it when the 12v dies. This one lasted longer than my '05 but it still needed replacing. (now at 47k miles) I also took the hub caps off. I like the 10 spoke silver mags. I have gotten more than 1800 miles per tank. I believe I am currently at 85 MPG.

Suggestions 3&4 is from personnel experience. The manual states to check them; the dealership will place that check mark in that box.o_O I've found the ATF to be very dirty in as little as 20K miles in both Prius I've owned. I do this to reduce wear, because I plan on driving this car till the wheels fall off. My other Prius got totaled out by an uninsured motorist.
Ditto with the brake fluid flush. Other automobile manufacturers recommend 3-4 year replacement intervals. I'm going to flush out my brake system next year - even if it test fine. Braking systems usually doesn't completely fail, but your stopping distances will start slowly increasing as your brake fluid starts going bad. Strange that Toyota doesn't have a change interval, even though they use the same stuff as other manufacturers.
The difference between regular tint and ceramic tint, ceramic tint blocks heat from coming through the glass - regular tint just filters light.
I got the rubber trunk mat because I do a lot of hiking and fishing. Sometimes I get rained-on or muddy so it's just nice to be able to dump it in the trunk - just drag the mat along with stuff out and hose it all off.

    Hope this helps......
