Has anyone installed an auto dimming mirror with Homelink?

    In general, on a gen3(2010-15), or on a gen5(2023-25)?

It’s a dealer accessory option at anytime.

The Gen 5. I got the base model that doesn't have one figuring that I can always install out aftermarket.

I'm going to suggest getting one from a salvage yard. There's one in Mass for $75.
Used 2023 TOYOTA PRIUS INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR - Chuckran Auto Parts

I believe this is the one Toyota is using(you can find it for $220):
    VOXX Electronics

If you buy it from Toyota, you're looking at at least $575:
Rear View Mirror Assembly - Interior

You might have to do some extra wiring. I don't know if the LE/SE comes with the power plug for the mirror. If you do need to add power, everything you need is already in the map light area.

I bought the Toyota mirror for $172. It doesn't auto-dim, but it has HomeLink, which is what I truly want. It is easy to install.

I think that the more expensive mirror connects to the backup cam.

No, the one that connects to the backup cam costs around $1625(and that's with a 31% discount).

There are four(/five) mirrors in total:
    1. 87840-0W500 - $55.71 - LE/SE standard - ordinary manual mirror
    2. PT374-00210 - $132.25 - LE/SE port installed option - manual, Homelink - this is what you got
    3. 87840-0W690 - $578.70 - XLE/LTD/XSE/XSE+ standard - auto dimming, Homelink
    4a. 87840-0W510 - $1625.19 - LTD/XSE+ option - backup cam, auto dimming, Homelink (for cars built 12/22-8/23)
    4b. 87840-0W790 - $1625.19 - LTD/XSE+ option - backup cam, auto dimming, Homelink (for cars built from 9/23)

all prices are from Lewis Toyota, which has the 31% discount of MSRP

It’s important to know you can buy online from many Toyota dealers including some near you. Their discount varies with some items less at one dealer while other items are less at a second dealer. One dealer may list a part number online while another may not. Find the part number and Google.

You wait for the item and you pay for shipping UNLESS you buy local and select pickup at the dealer. This is the lowest cost option other than buying used on eBay - which is good enough for some items.

Most legit shops also get a significant discount from their local Toyota dealer. Plus the dealer normally delivers to the shop or they can pick it up. Once in awhile simply asking for a discount at the dealer's parts department works.

Can anyone provide experience with upgrading from the manual non homelink mirror to the port installed homelink mirror (PN: PT374-00210) or the auto dimming mirror that comes standard on the XLE/LTD/XSE/XSE+ (PN: 87840-0W690)?

I see the port installed mirror only has homelink, OK with me, and a non replaceable battery which is concerning.
I'm leaning towards the 87840-0W690, but I am unsure if the wiring harness already exist behind the existing manual mirror.

Homelink is the only option I'm really missing on my SE Prime.

Thanks Hammersmith for the summary of OE PN's.

I installed the PN: PT374-00210. The battery is supposed to last 10 years. It has no wiring so it is an easy upgrade. I figure that by the time the batttery dies the Gen5 will have been out for a while an I can get an aftermarket homelink/auto dimming mirror.

Was the wiring already present when you opened up the area to install it? Assuming you did.
I, too, find 87840-0W690 but not sure it'd fit on the SE.

I didn't see any plug and play wiring for a mirror. From videos that I watched one has to hack into the existing plug. I didn't want to void my warranty on anything yet.

I'm going to try to track down one of those frameless homelink mirrors at a local dealer tomorrow. The sun visor is way too thick for my gate remote clip, which is also just really bad looking too, like something from the 90s.

FYI: You'll way overpay if you try to get one through a dealer.

    Amazon prices:
$180 - ADVPMHL1LN - frameless, HomeLink, no auto-dimming, battery powered, no wiring needed
    $280 - ADVGENFL85EXP - frameless, HomeLink, auto-dimming, compass, wiring needed
$220 - ADVGENFLCHLN - frameless, HomeLink and HomeLink Connect, auto-dimming, wiring needed

Regular HomeLink is the standard type. HomeLink Connect is a newer type that may or may not be a better choice. It links to your phone via Bluetooth to operate a much wider variety of home automation products. I think you could control lighting, thermostats, maybe locks and security systems, etc. The downside is that it requires a phone app and a subscription. 1yr free, $1.99/year after that.

If your dealer wants way more than the prices above, just get the one you want from Amazon or something. They're literally the same mirror(Toyota buys theirs from Gentex).

@Hammersmith Since you seem to know a lot about this, do you know of any that aren't frameless? I don't care about the frameless look at all tbh

    Sure, there are plenty.

Go here and explore: VOXX Electronics

Then copy-paste the model number of the one you like into Google or Amazon to find the lowest price.

It seems to me there are none that are framed that are only homelink and not auto dimming. I'm against auto dimming because I never dim my rearview mirror and it also requires power. How does it get power?

You can tap into power from the TSS camera box just behind the rear view mirror. It's a little harder on the LE versus the other trims, but it's not insanely difficult.

There used to be more framed options, but it looks like they discontinued some older models a year or three back.

And I'm an idiot. If you want the frameless mirror without auto-dimming, buy it from one of the online Toyota dealers. You can get it today for $132.25. If you wait for a couple months(Memorial Day sale), I bet you could get it for as low as $105.80. Install would be super easy. One little #20 Torx screw, and slide the old one off and the new one on. The only downside is that the battery is non-replaceable. It sounds like it's got about a 10-year lifespan. And after a quick glace upwards, it looks like I'm just repeating what's already been said in this thread. I'm an idiot x2.

@Hammersmith Unfortunate. I hoping for the smallest possibility of the 10-pin connector existing on all trims. I want to maintain the car's resell-ability as best as I possibly can (even though I don't plan on it, but just in case), so I don't want to tap into anything stock.

There's probably a way with something like the FitDVR but I'm already going to use the one 12v output for a dashcam and I fear overloading that box and seeing smoke if I try to use it to power a rearview mirror and a dashcam. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Also no you aren't an idiot. I only mentioned frameless because it seemed to me like that was the only homelink one Toyota sold, but I ultimately don't want frameless. To me it looks cheap because a lot of the $10 clip-on mirrors on Amazon are frameless.
