Low Roof line on the Gen 5 Prius

5-11. I've never hit my head or had to contort to get out.
Weird.

I have absolutely no issues with any control placement or anything with the car.
Perfect car for me.

Some of this will be age and flexibility related. I'm 6'2", and have folded myself into lots of awkward little cars when I was younger. How I get into and out of a Prius now takes into account some knee and back injuries.

A manufacturer is only going to do so much for the thin ends of the bell curve. I believe there is a range of cheap shoe manufacturers that don't even make size 13 shoes. I've never seen a size 13 shoe at Costco. Some lines of trousers don't come in a 34 inch waist and 34 inch inseam. These companies aren't losing much just because I don't buy from them.

The same rationale should work for cars. If you are professional basketball tall, you weren't going to look for a Prius anyway.

 

I'm about the same size as you and in my 50's. The lower roof line takes a bit of getting used to. It is definitely more difficult to enter. I don't recommend this vehicle to people with mobility issues. However, it is a VERY fun car to drive. I drives better than the 6 cylinder convertible Mustang that we used to own.

Ride comfort & fuel economy? Just a guess...

 

Guessing they also had a Mustang from before the switch to independent suspension; a solid live axle in the rear like a truck.

 

Same here more than happy! my local dealer now has three of these in stock. I think the problem was people didn’t have a chance to sit in it before they buy, I waited eight months to get my 23 one of the first to order! just by looking at it, you can see it has a low roof sports car coop look almost! It’s not for everybody but fits me like a glove

 

do not know. the only Mustang I owned was a 1970, one of the last big ones before the Mustang II.

 

5th gen Mustang(2004-14) with the V6 had about the same power and performance as a 5th gen Prius.

Mustang V6 - 210hp, 240ft-lb, 0-60 in around 7.3sec, 3300lbs gross weight
Prius HEV FWD - 194hp, 139ft-lb*, 0-60 in around 7.1sec, 3100lbs
Prius PHEV - 220hp, 139ft-lb*, 0-60 in around 6.6sec, 3500lbs

*torque isn't really comparable between a hybrid and an ICE-only, but I included it anyway

 

I'm 6' tall and coming from a sporty car. Used to it. Also used to resting my knees where the dash and console meet and having my legs bent at a specifically tight angle. This is something you can get used to over time for sure. Not banging your head, but clearing the door without hitting it. It's just muscle memory.

Just guessing again I doubt it was more economical, just for starters. Many people buy cars as efficient transportation.

 

I have to bend quite a bit to get in and out of my 2024 Prius -- I thought it was due to the glass roof (I'm just under 6')

I have also accidentally turned on the turn signal when getting out/in.

If I'm not careful how I reach over the center area, I have accidentally engaged EV mode and also turned traction support off.

While I generally like the car, some of the changes don't seem to have been well thought-out.

 

FWIW, my 2025 Camry XLE with seat memory automatically moves the drivers seat back to make entry & exit easier.

 

I don't have seat memory, but I do have it all the way down. It looks like it will go back quite a ways, so I may try that to see if it helps.

 

Prime XSE does this as well, zero issues getting in and out of the Prius or 2025 Camry XSE. The low roofline thing is way overblown in my opinion. 6'0", 225LBS for reference.

Does the us xle version get memory seats?

Yup and all 2025 Camry are Hybrid., FWD or AWD. In my car, Drivers Seat & outer mirror memory were part of the Premium Plus package that also added panoramic moon roof, panoramic view monitor, and other safety features.

 

It's easier to get memory seats on the Prius than the Camry.

The Prius Limited and Prius PHV XSE Premium come with memory seats as standard. Memory seats are only available on the XLE Camry as an option. They are not available on any of the other trims(LE, SE & XSE).
