Until it affects him or them ..... If the average Joe American doesn't have a job, they can't pay tax .... if the others refuse to carry the load and also refuse to pay tax .... who will be left to police the problem and force them to pay tax .... what can they do, put them in jail and feed, clothe and put a roof over their head, at no cost to the individual? Tariffs won't put money in the treasury if no one has the money to buy the goods that attracted the tariff in the first place .... relying on companies to spend their money on building factories to make goods in America to sell to people who don't have the money to buy the products, doesn't make economic sense, they will simply move out of the US and build factories to build good that they can sell to the rest of the world .... without the poisoned tag, Made in the USA ....... You don't think that Trumps actions will poison the rest of the world to be anti USA and therefore, anti Made in USA when it comes to buying products ....... Canada has already started taking that tactic, not only refusing to buy US goods, but can celling holidays in the USA so reducing the amount of foreign money coming into the country ..... you can't simply print money if no one will buy the debt it creates ...... the USD will end up like the Italian Lira, for those that aren't familiar with the exchange rate, 1,000 lira is worth USD27.50 ...... can you imagine spending USD1,000 to buy what you can buy now for $27.50? A billion US$ would be the equivalent of $27,500 in US$ today ..... Being a billionaire wouldn't mean much then, would it? T1 Terry
For older people it is always wise to have a large part of your assets in fixed safe investments that will weather these types of storms without issues (Stable Value Funds etc.). For youngsters who will not access their funds for many years this is just the type of opportunity to begin buying into the market a little at a time over a while as the chicken littles of the world run wild and fear monger. The more chicken littles begin to scream the better will be the buying opportunities. Would highly recommend this book to individuals who want to learn about the stock market and how to profit from it as opposed to reading internet post A Random Walk down Wall Street by Burton G. Malkiel 'A Random Walk Down Wall Street' at 50 | Kiplinger "Princeton University emeritus economist Burton Malkiel, who turns 91 this year, has published a 50th-anniversary edition of his investing classic, A Random Walk Down Wall Street."
I'm putting some money back into my Vanguard account to try "short selling" TSLA. Will let you know how it works out. Bob Wilson
As much as I would love tesla stock to tank, I still think trunk will ride to the rescue in some way , shape or form
irony ... an ev maker - with skills at cutting waste in manufacturing tries to do so (cut waste & fraud) for the government, finds millions of alleged 100-year-olds all the way up to 300 years old getting social security, but because it's being done by conservatives ... best to kill the main usa EV business - if you can. idk ... seems to need a better grasp of the notion 'lesser of two evils'.
More likely that there aren’t any 300 year olds, but you believe them just like you believed in the condoms to palestine, and don’t believe the AP gulf hoohah
don't know about condoms to palestine, but a lot of the stuff going on just seems like another aspect of the whole canceled culture deal .... where both sides weaponize their viewpoint by hoping to destroy the opponent's livelihoods. Let the nastiness continue.
Cancel culture? Parent company at Disney I worked for (example) .... Tim Allen had the third most popular show a few years back on ABC TV but when he said too many things that orbited the conservative world - they dumped his show, so anybody who was a filmographer makeup - producer - sound-key grip writer Etc had to go find other pastures. Too bad what side of the aisle they were on - if any side at all. That's cancel culture ... kind of a scorched earth sort of thing. And then the pendulum will swing the other way when the other side wins. Back & forth we go.
There is already that 400 million contract for armored Teslas to the State Dept. Where is the evidence any of these methuselahs actually getting a social security payment? If cutting fraud is so important, why fire the Inspector Generals?
It's incredible - but last time the left media found it too incredible the president's press secretary arrived with a hand full of documentation. I suppose you would lose complete credibility if you didn't have documentation. would a reasonable guess be that if someone isn't doing their job they ought to be fired? .
