Speaking of commodity car .... early 2000s Echo yesterday. Always reminded me of the Gen 1 Prius.

I loved those Echos! So raw and rude while everyone else was trying to build ridiculous creampuff cars.

LOL around 2002 our neighbor pulled up with a smart looking metallic jade green car (color reminds me of Japanese fig beetles) iirc around 2002 & I thought it was an echo. Congratulating him, he schooled me saying no "it's not an Echo - it's my wife's Prius". And so the journey began.
I suppose our 2004 Prius was a little cream puffie

I got one of the first shipment of 6 first gen Prius to my dealer. A few weeks after I got it someone drove up next to me at a red light and signaled that I should roll down my window. He said something like when did you get yours? I just got mine last week! How do you like it? When the light turned green I pulled in behind him. It was an Echo, which I'd never heard of.

I saw a cream/ivory Chevy SS earlier. Pulled alongside us at a light and I got a good look at it. Seemed it was completely stock, and the exhaust left much to be desired as it drove away. :ROFLMAO::sleep:

I just saw a Crown an hour ago. Couldn't work out the script on the trunk lid, appeared to say "OHEVAWD"

A resident here in the neighborhood where I live drives a silver GR Corolla. I see (and hear) him drive by every so often.

I would assume the ocean salt in the air really takes its toll on car bodies. Here in the south, the sun really messed up the clearcoat on paint, especially on dark colors. It got so bad on our dark green Tundra that we painted the hood flat black with Rustoleum.

Just saw my first Crown, a nice copper-brown one. The "OHEV" is the new hybrid symbol, basically just a blue circle with HEV after. All the new model year hybrids wear it. Personally I prefer the old HYBRID with the wave symbol.

That is Toyota's "logo" for their Beyond Zero vision. I wish it was not on my 2025 Camry.

A 1980's Camry wagon. According to The Wiki, the wagon was '88 to '91.

You just reminded me, I saw a Buick Regal TourX wagon the other day. I didn't know that's what it was when I saw it. I had to dig in the wikis to figure it out.

Lovely lines and all that space! Best-looking and most-appropriate-for-me GM product I've seen in decades.

Naturally it was discontinued over four years ago.

It was an imported Opel with very little changed for the US market.

Disney bought a fleet of those suckers. All white. Used for security. As long as it was gm, Disney bought it & would consider nothing else. We even got to drive around in the Chevy EV pickups that utilized ev1 guts. Good times.
