As discussed, Gen. 5 Prius has now gone three model years in a row without any upgrades or improvements. Yes, they added a color choice.

The first Gen. 5 video appeared on the Toyota YouTube channel on December 14, 2022.

I think everyone expects a mid-cycle refresh for 2026. How extensive? Who knows.

-I would like to see smaller tires offered for higher trim models. The 19” are unnecessary, heavy and ridiculous.

-Recognize that the legacy and top selling point of Prius is mileage/range. I am not sure an improvement can be offered until Gen. 6.

-Lessen road and wind noise. I will happily pay more for a quiet ride.

-Respect my privacy. Allow customers to opt out of all information sharing and data recording, starting at the point of purchase.

-Adopt the North American Charging Standard for 2026. Tesla charging is everywhere. Only then would I consider the major upcharge for the Prime.

In 2024 Toyota announced they would adopt NACS starting in 2025. What’s happening?

-Expand solar on the roof and to the hood.

enlarge the hatch space, raise the roofline for easier entry and headroom. add a spare tyre and change all controls to buttons, dials and levers

I'd like to see them bring back grill shutters and the coolant heater in the exhaust.

A complete body change to back to utilitarian and awkward. This way the 2023-2025 will forever be known as the sexy generation.

That is called a Corolla Cross Hybrid for less money or a Toyota Crown Signia with a quiet powerful ride for more money.

Otherwise what you see is what you get for at least five years.

    Yeah. No wishes

Just buy a car with all the things you think it should have.
None of those listed matter to me

Prius Peep, I get many of the points on your list, but must disagree on one.

I have an LE, so I'm guessing it is one of the noisiest trims. Being able to hear the engine was an important point for me. Having some idea what the engine is doing through aural cues is all the more valued in a car without a tachometer.

In the last several decades cars have become not only quicker, but quieter and more isolated from road noise and feel. Maybe not every last car needs to offer a hushed and pillowy experience.

But the wheel thing, yes. Someone at Toyota should have gotten a dope slap over the 19 inch wheels.

NACS is mainly a fast DC charging standard. It can do AC charging, but the reason for non-Tesla makes to use it is to get access to the DC chargers of the Supercharger network.

None of Toyota's PHEVs sold in North America have DC charging capabilities. Toyota figures US gas is cheap, so people aren't going to spend the time, or extra money, to fast DC charge on trips. The gen5 PHV may not even have DC charging in Japan.

NACS will show up on Toyota BEVs first.

Look straight in the main grille opening. They're right there. Black plastic.

This photo was just taken through the grille, just to the right of the license plate. The blurred parts in the foreground are the main grille. The black plastic parts with all the bug splatter are the grille shutter. The silver part in the background is the radiator.

Utilitarian and awkward don't necessarily go hand-in-hand.

You're welcome to double check and take a picture of your car to show us you don't have them. I enjoy finding out when there are errors in documentation. Every bit of info I can find says both the HEV and PHEV have the shutters and they come on all trims. Even the absolute base trim in Japan that doesn't have the cold weather package seems to have them. I'd find it fascinating to find out Toyota decided to delete them on some cars but forgot to update the files. Your choice. Ain't going to hurt me either way. <shrug>

The Prius models with with coolant heater in the exhaust had failures denied by toyota dealers or were not properly diagnosed by TOYOTA dealerships. Expensive failures.
