Lotus Evora and Lotus Elise. Haven't seen an Evora before so that was a treat.

Also saw a couple of JDM vans.. One looked like a Noah or Alphard (only saw the rear). The other was a Honda Spada.

LS600h. Not a typo. It’s the SWB version because it was a RHD Japanese import.

Late model (spindle grill) LS 500h in a favorite local supermarket parking lot. At first I just thought it was an ES 300h until one parked about 2 cars down from the LSh.

The now common Cybertruck an engineer drives around. Problem with them is, unless they're wrapped you have no idea if it's the same one you've been seeing. You have to look (stare) at the driver to see if it's the same Cybertruck. Most disconcerting, to me anyways, is the driver sits behind this huge window and from my Taco you can see their entire torso.

    A true antique; perhaps a Model A.

On the way to the parents, a Westfalia camper Vanagon, and I'm pretty sure I spotted the same one on the trip back.

The Outlander is a decent car that we looked into for a few years, but like the Toyota ev, it just took way too long to come to USA markets ....... & by the time it did, it didn't have matching features to the RAV4 plug-in - even accounting for its DC quick charging.

    A gen1 Volt today.
Plus a newer VW minivan. It had been converted into a pick up with short bed sides. Guess as an homage to these.

^ Not a conversion; the Doppelkabine aka "Doka" was a factory model from roughly 1955-1992. The one you show pictured is the rarer "Tristar" model featuring a frame lift, fulltime SYNCRO™ 4WD, a bonus stump-puller gear, dashboard-controlled locking rear diff and in some years an optional front locking diff.

Toyota trivia tie-in: The SYNCRO models were kit-built at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. That assembly line currently produces the Toyota GR Supra.

Very few SYNCRO models came to the USA because they were too tall to go in VW's trans-Atlantic carrier ship, so they could only travel exposed on the top deck which limited delivery volume.

I'm working in Kansas this week and the oddball spot was a Suzuki Equator pickup. I don't think I'd ever laid eyes on one before.

Those pics were just for the idea of what I saw. The front from my memory looks like the Volkswagen Touran - Wikipedia but it could be a Volkswagen Transporter (T4) - Wikipedia or US Eurovan. The bed walls were about half the height of the models I posted pics.

The Transporter does have a pick up body, and it looked a lot like this.
    upload_2025-1-23_20-58-11.jpeg
I remember the hood having ridges like the Touran, and the second row did not have windows. It was also a light blue

I remember reading an article about that. I guess they couldn't afford to bring their own model to the US, and were left rebadging a Frontier.

Today, there was a Clarity in the parking lot.

    Saw a Bentley with a flying B and a red emblem which I think it’s a Turbo R or a Brooklands R?

A 1998 or 1999 Mazda MPV All Sport with collector plates.

Early small Mitsubishi pickup branded under the Dodge Moniker. Caught my eye as that was the 2nd vehicle I ever purchased new. 1st being 76 American Motors cj5.

    2-door Camry Solara convertible.

Been a while since I've noticed one. Was that Toyota's last convertible? (Lexuses don't count)

By The Wiki, the Solara lasted a year longer than the MR2.

I think a WRX Impreza. It was a hatchback with the big scoop on the hood.

A yellow gen4 Prius. Didn't think that was sold in the US.
    Two Honda Prologues yesterday.

Chrysler Crossfire, moving under its own power and paint intact. Impressive.

    It's only special to me:

I saw a late model Toyota Corolla Hatchback in crush blue metallic and really liked it.

That's the best candidate I've identified for the eventual replacement of our Prius c.

That rings a bell. Every so often I’ll see a well preserved, commodity car, say from the eighties. I stop and look a while.
