I’ve got about 4 stick-style around: 3 are very close, they agree quite closely with each other, and with an inexpensive digital gauge. The 4th stick-style reads about 3 lbs higher, but is also my favourite as it’s the easiest to use and read. I put a bit of masking tape on the barrel, indicating it’s 3 lbs higher, and adjust accordingly.
Curious which tires they are. Michelin told me OEM tires are typically/intentionally made softer for a smoother ride and will wear much quicker. They said the OEM tire is not identical to their after market version even if it has the same name. This seems crazy. If an OEM Michelin tire wore quickly, I wouldn’t be enticed to buy it again although there isn’t much of a choice with the 19” wheels.
Were you able to call the Toyota Logistics Services, Daisy? Were you able to get an HID bulb for your Gen 2? Perhaps you can wait until the 2026 mid-cycle refresh.
I tried calling but need to call again. Thanks for the reminder. I’m not dealing with new bulb unless the headlight starts flickering continually. It’s only flickered twice since mentioning it. Not something I can even consider attempting out in the cold. Oil change and tire rotation this week. While oil change was done I walked over to Subaru for a test drive in exchange for a $50 gift card. I will not believe it until I see it and have the new keys (maybe I should say key) in my hands.
Toyota Logistics requires an extension. Can’t get through. Dealership had no update but will check again tomorrow. The end of the 70 day QC hold would be today. Can only imagine what’s going on. Trying not to. : /
I can’t believe it. The hold has been changed from 70 to 98 days. Yes, I’m keeping an eye out for other options. If I didn’t live where I live, I would settle for red or white. The next closest dealership is so sleazy and the funding arrangement is too complicated to go further away. If it was a bigger dealership, they probably would have searched for another one by now.
Why don’t you wait for Gen 5½, which is less than a year away? They are obviously selling you a lemon anyway.
Because this $$ could disappear any moment especially with what’s going on with the US right now. That’s the only reason I’m stressed. Also not wanting to replace more and more parts on my 2009. I’m not convinced it’s a lemon but I suppose it soon will be. Having it sit at the NJ port for this long is insane. Doesn’t help that the Toyota website won’t let me search inventory on my phone anymore. There’s been a glitch for a few days now.
Why don’t you drive for 20–100 miles and get it from a different dealer? The dealer lots are full of silver XLE AWDs. There are currently 20 in stock in your area: Toyota inventory | New-Toyota inventory search
The dealer lots are not full of silver XLEs. I would have to talk to the dealership to see if they will trade with another dealer. They were about to do this before this allocation showed up. It’s either wait for this mystery allocation or get a car that’s been test driven multiple times to see how fast it accelerates. I’m not going to get into the details again regarding why I need to buy locally. I just wish I knew what was going on with it. It’s off topic anyway so I’ll stop. Just needed to vent.
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I suspect your hold car has something very wrong and it needs body or mechanical parts which are on an ever increasing supply delay. You can be happy with any new Toyota that dealer has on the lot. or You or anyone else can buy a car anywhere in the state quite easily and don't have to be there. Get something now.
I know. As it stands if I get them to do a trade with another dealership, there will be no negotiating on the price. I was at least hoping to get enough off to cover the spare tire kit. It’s absurd that Toyota doesn’t release what’s going on.
But you don't have any place to put a spare in the HEV AWD and PHEV models. You are not buying a Prius with a useful hatch and then put a spare in there to take half the space, right?
Thanks for all the great information. The tires are Toyo Extensa. I ordered the depth gauge but just by looking at them, they seem pretty fine to me. I have uploaded pics. What are your thoughts?
Which two tires are those in your pics? Are the other two tires OK? I got 36K miles from my original tires and their first rotation was at it's last free service. Of course in my Maintenance book it shows that tire rotation and all the other square boxes were checked for every free service.
I just measured the tread depth on my Dunlop Enasave 01 A/S 91S tires (labeled 340 treadwear) with 40,000 miles on them to be 8/32". According to the specs, the new-tire tread depth for these tires it 8/32". Therefore, they haven’t worn a bit in 40,000 miles with mostly regenerative braking! It looks like they last for the life of the car as long as you don’t use friction braking. LOL
