We may have to go back to gassers and live with climate change, environmental damage from drilling and fracking, and energy insecurity

Might as well go back to active forest management too. ;)

I was reading about that. It said much forest area is federal, and congress isn’t interested in funding it

State environmental rule block brush burning & dead wood removal. The whole state is a forest fire waiting to happen.

The fires started with annual grasses and brush that dried out from the unseasonable warm weather. Not the type of material usually considered for controlled burns, and it may have been unsafe to do so by the time the risk was known.

Calif. Battery plant burning down | PriusChat
An article I posted there reported the fire department wasn't detecting hazardous emissions from the fire, but the county wanted to wait for other testing equipment before giving the all clear.

    First thing's first.

Cars are toxic when they burn.
    ALL of them.
One of the things that wanna-be preppers don't get when they put 'life-straws' in their go-bags and check off the 'got water' block is that ground water gets contaminated by 'stuff.'

Even prissy little Priuses can have more than 10 gallons of fuel in them and 3/4 of a gallon of oil.
Add the various other fluids, plastics and rubbers, and you have lots of 'stuff' that WILL find their way into your water one way or the other.
    EVs?
If anything, they're CLEANER when they burn because they're more like a road flare than a petrochemical plant when they go up in smoke.
    HOUSES.
THEY are the MAIN environmental hazard, and as we've come to understand ALL TOO WELL they burn too.

    It's pretty simple.

You can't cram 18 million people into a couple of coastal counties without introducing localized anthropogenic climate change.
People grow non-native plants - sometimes VERY FIRE FRIENDLY plants!!!!!!
    Concrete.
    LOTS and LOTS of HOUSES.

It's gonna CHANGE the LOCAL environment!!!

So, to minimize climate impact, environmentalists should go ahead and kill themselves? ;)
Just taking your post to ist logical conclusion, not endorsing that conclusion.

    Logical conclusion HOW?

Idiots who suck at math tried the "population bomb" theory on us a few decades ago.
    No.
There are not too many people on the planet, but rather it's a matter not doing stupid stuff like terra-forming a Mediterranean climate with too much concrete, invasive plant species, and clownish water management.
People CAN LIVE crammed together nutt-to-butt along the coastline - but not stupidly - at least not for very long.
As environmentalists would say, it's not 'sustainable.'

Those houses DO burn fairly well - Don't they?
California real estate prices are going to warp and then break the insurance industry. ;)
