Like title says I'm wondering if any of you owned a gen4 prior to getting your prime. What would you say the plus and minus is of both? Besides the yearly ev fee. I traded in my 2018 a few years back when I bought my truck. I put 100k miles on it in 2 years commuting and they gave me more than I owed to trade. I miss my gen 4 and i moved to a bigger city among other changes and now I really want to buy another prius. Best car I ever owned. I kinda wish I hadn't traded it in. I really miss mine but apparently I had a unicorn and can't find another within a few hundred miles. 2018 four with convenience package and black interior. Only option I didn't have was HUD. First year of the 11 screen and last before the face lift. All I can seem to find is orca interior on the few 2018s (and even less are trim four) that I can find. I'm not 100% sold on going for a face-lift 19-22 yet. For that reason I'm considering a prime also as an option since they're more common in the advanced trim level with black interior and even offered the 11 screen in 17 also. Being older they're a priced along side prius evenly and seem to be just as common and more of them have black interior. I have capabilty to charge mostly at work for free but at home in the garage if necessary.

We bought our 2011 Gen3 in 2011, and we bought our 2017 Prime in 2017. We still drive both cars, interchangeably.

The Gen3 has more trunk space, so if we are doing something that will require more trunk space, then we use that car.

I have never driven the vanilla, non-plug-in Gen 4, but I expect it to be very similar. The plug-in Gen 4 has a raised trunk floor because of the larger battery, but everything is similar otherwise. I have the Limited and would never go back to the XLE. Get a 2021 or 2022 if you can, as they have TSS 2.0. The third rear seat was added in 2020. Also, if you could get it under $25,000, you get the $4,000 used-PHEV tax credit. The plug-in mode is great for distances under 30 miles in the city. For shorter distances, I always use the plug-in mode.

I'm planning on a limited. Having a four trim before, I don't wana go backwards. I liked the 11.6 screen and I want HUD. Just so happens hud is paired with heated steering wheel which is nice. The non plug in gen4 did well in ev mode so id be curious how the prime compares being able to push it harder and longer just ev. Also im looking in the low 20k range but I'm not worried about the tax credit as that only applies to MY23/24 now that it's 2025. I find the gen5 very ugly.

You misread used credit requirement. The car as to be at least two years old. It will apply to 2023 and older; so all the gen4s out there.
You do have to go through a dealer registered to do the credit.
