    @Brian1954

So you are okay with TV shows awarding contestants prizes and them having to pay taxes on those items.

But...you are not okay with any fees or charges due for getting an award?

Do you not believe there are over 2000 businesses?

Say the TV contestant wins a prize worth $1000 and the taxes are 10%, which would be $100. The net value that the TV contestant won is worth $900. The TV contestant is ahead in the deal. I have no problem with that.

As I have stated several times, the award is given for free. Jack also stated that he paid nothing for the award. GlobalRecogntionAwards.org is not changing any fees for the award. Check the link I provided. The recipient that won the award is notified by email that they won the award. That is all the recipient receives for free. What good is the award without the certificate. So, I ask you, what good is the award to the company without the certificate? In my opinion, a legitimate award would not make the company pay money for the certificate with the company name on it.

I am okay with optional fees being charged to publish on an external website about the company receiving the award. The recipient of the award may decide to pay the fee to promote the company. That is part of the marketing budget for the company.

I am not quite sure what you are asking? There are probably over a million businesses/companies globally.

I want to ask you a theoretical question. Say that 5 awards "X" are awarded globally each year. Say that 100,000 awards "Z" are awarded globally each year. Which award is more prestigious "X" or "Z"?

    @Brian1954

Well if there is over a million businesses then only 2000 awards isnt a lot.

But it is too much if those 2000 businesses paid any fees in your opinion and that somehow makes the company awarding a bogus company because they are not allowed to do what their business does in your mind.

I once paid Clear Channel radio to run an ad on the radio, are they bogus because they charged me or am I just a bogus company?

This sounds like a "pay-to-play" or vanity award type thing.
    Vanity award - Wikipedia
"A vanity award is an award in which the recipient purchases the award and/or marketing services to give the false appearance of a legitimate honor."

Any "award's" value is determined by how legitimate the company giving it out means to people. Also the need to pay for publicity or a physical trophy seems unusual.

I'm sure that no one who wins a Nobel Prize or an Oscar/Grammy/etc has to pay for their trophy or for someone to write an article about it. That is the main difference I can see.

Radio broadcasters sell ads. Advertiser pays for them. That's normally expected commerce.

Prizes that have value are declarable income and it's no surprise to pay tax on them.

Both examples seem pretty far afield from the topic here.

Yes, exactly. I did not know that there was a name for this. Thank you for posting it.

2000 awards given out globally in 2024 by ALL organizations is not too many. 2000 awards given out in 2024 by one website that was only established about 1.5 years ago is very excessive.

One more red flag about this award. A legitimate award organization would have information on their website stating the history of the organization and when the first award was given out. You will find no history information on their website.

I think that I am going to do an experiment. I will create a new email address and submit an entry for a startup company that does not exist. Let's see how long it takes for the submission to be processed and whether I win the Global Recognition Award or not. Entry is free, so what do I have to lose? I will report back later how this goes.

I had another idea, but I am to frugal to do it. My idea was to go to the option upgrades page and purchase the Digital Certificate package for $110. If you click on the link is takes you to webpage powered by Stripe. I was going to put in my credit card information and see if I would receive the digital certificate without having to submitting an application for the "Award". My guess is that it would work, but I did not want to waste $110 trying it. If anyone else is interested, be my guest.

The reason for this post is to write about my experience submitting an application for the "Award".

On Monday night Dec.16, I started the process of submitting the information requested for the application. I used a fictitious name and company name and I created a new email address for this purpose. I found out that they do not accept certain emails. I could not use an AOL, Yahoo, Outlook, Comcast, etc email domains. They do accept Gmail, so I created [email protected]. The fictitious company name I used was Pickens Chimney Services. Part of the process is to give the company/yourself a rating from 1 (Minimal) to 5 (Exceptional word-class standard) in certain categories. I used a real phone number, but it was for a local business in my area. I did not create a screen shot of my application when I sent it, so I have recreated it in the screen shots below:
    Screen Shot 12-18-24 at 11.18 AM.jpg
    Screen Shot 12-18-24 at 11.18 AM-2.jpg

The full text at the bottom is:

I am starting a new business focused on chimney repair. I have worked for a local chimney repair company for 11 years and am ready to start my own business.

I have witnessed first hand the enormous difference that the best quality products and materials have on the quality of the repair made to a chimney. It is imperative to do the repair work with the highest standards. If the repair work is not done correctly, the possibility exists for a chimney fire which would result in property damage and possibly loss of a life.

Customer satisfaction with my cost effective repair will fuel the growth of my business. So I will make sure that the services that I provide are the best in the industry.

I know that it will be difficult to start my new business, but I am determine to do the work to make it succeed.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sent the application Dec.16 @ 9 PM eastern time. I received an automatic email that they received my entry. See attached PDF file.

I received an email about 27 hours later saying "Good news. Our judging panel have awarded you a Global Recognition Award"
See attached PDF for the full email.

To me, the email looks like it was AI generated with the information that I submitted plus other things that I had NOT included in the application.

Look at the second page of the email, Options to promote your 2024 Global Recognition Award. I have copied and pasted that part of the email below:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I think I made my point that the "Global Recognition Award" (GRA) is a bogus award. Anyone can apply and receive the "Award" as long as the entered information is coherent. It looks to me like more individuals apply for the "Award" then companies.

Is what Review Rumble Ltd ( the owners of the globalrecognitionawards.org website) doing illegal? Probably not. Is it ethical? I would say no. It is a VERY shady operation.

Just for giggles, I am going to submit another application with all the same information, but I am going to change "I have worked for a local chimney repair company for 11 years and am ready to start my own business." to "I have worked for a local chimney repair company for 10 years and am ready to start my own business." Lets see what happens.

I will be making a post later about what I found out about the company Review Rumble Ltd.

Edit: I submitted the entry again, but I did not receive the automatic email stating that they received it. So, at least they are checking for duplicate entries.
