"Waiting for Godot" makes sense for new entrants to EV manufacturing. I have 2019 technology battery and its size and age have matched my expectations. But recently Munro shared:

    • Impervious to "nail" test internal short
    • High specific density
This sketch shows how they did it an why it works:

everyone is backing off except tesla (who has no choice) and maybe hyundai/kia?

between slowing sales growth and the election, the roadmap was caught in the rain, and the ink is running.

not only is gm reducing investment, they are backing off hybrids, WHICH THEY JUST ANNOUNCED 6 MONTHS AGO :p

Yipes! Even GM is backing down on hybrids!? What!? Of course, like Tesla, the Chinese haven't backed down on EVs, at least as far as I know.

I think we have no idea what will happen with the car market and I think automakers don't either. Some say prices will go up, others say down. Some say diversity (ICE, HEV, EV) will go up, others say down. Some say tax incentives will go away on EV's, others say there will be tax incentives placed on all cars to pay or help pay the interest of the car payment. I don't understand it fully and probably never will.

I'm not sure I'm on that same page, but for me that fits well within the antitrust category. Perhaps a category 6.

No major manufacturer is "like before". Look at John Deere trying to make it impossible for owners to work on their own machinery. Only after it breaks down do owners realize they have merely leased the proprietary software in most modern machines. Car companies are trying to do the same thing where you have to have proprietary software to get the code to see what's wrong. Manufacturers spend tens of millions in lobbying to keep their new status quo. Battery dying in your phone? It's glued in so you can't change it out to give it new life. LOL. There goes another ton of electronic waste by companies that like to tout how green they are.

    Brand loyalty makes no sense.

I know people who swear up and down that the ONLY phone, laptop, vehicle, clothing, etc. to buy has to be from such-and-such brand. But limiting one to one brand is not smart. I don't care if it's Apple, Toyota, Nike, Samsung, or whatever. Things change.

Take TV's for an example. When color TV came out, eventually Sony became the best TV manufacturer out there with their patented Trinitron technology. By the time that patent ended flat screens became a thing and the best technology back then was the plasma screens built by Panasonic. But now it's the OLED screens built by LG, which may soon be superseded by QLED or MicroLED or some other technology.

And I do feel that companies are trying to push products and services I do not like and never asked for. Maybe everyone else likes them, but I generally don't, especially at their prices.

I agree, some people get so tied up with a particular brand that they miss out.
    I’ve had Macs and PCs.
I’ve driven Toyota, GM, Nissan, BMW/Mini and other Vehicles.

The manufacturer that delivers the best product based an my criteria gets my money.
If everyone is 100% tied to a specific manufacturer, innovation dies.

Meanwhile, Tesla stock keeps blowing it out of the water.

    They're doing pretty good.

However, I sometimes feel that companies with good stocks tend to be less affordable. Which if they're unaffordable to me then they don't mean much to me. It's kind of like Lamborghini stocks going up. Hopefully there will be affordable Teslas some day. Then I'll consider one.

I detest crypto. I don't care if I could become a millionaire off of it. I don't ever want to deal with crypto.

Back on track, did anyone see the possibility of a BEV Toyota Previa?

Personally I have mixed feelings about these BEV retro refreshes. Cars like the VW Bus, VW Beetle and Toyota Previa were awesome for what they were. Making a new one, whether it's a New Beetle with a FWD ICE drive train or a BEV version with no rear, air-cooled engine, or mid supercharged engine, then it doesn't really hit my nostalgic spot.
