How did the Lithium Ion battery work during the cold weather?

The lithium batteries were a failure after years of denials and lack of transparency from the company. They have moved to Sodium which is not mainstream by anyone, have no chemistry focused bms and historically the chemistry is very poor in freezing weather. Aftermarket nimh also are poor in medium term reliability.

    So, you're saying:
    1. the lithium and sodium batteries are someone's garage project and if you want to spend money on them, you may as well set your money on fire.
    2. the aftermarket NiMH batteries are typical Chinese junk, also may as well set your money on fire
    3. the way to go is the tried and true Toyota OEM, which the car is designed for, and that has proven to work very well for 10-15 sometimes 20 years.
Sounds reasonable. Guess I'll need to start researching a little, since I think I'll probably want a new battery soon.

I believe that the battery modules are made in China, although the pack as shipped by Toyota might be assembled elsewhere. In any case, there is reason to expect at least the attempt to impose tariffs on items made in China on the first day of the next US Administration, so if "soon" is next month, probably better to do it before January 20, 2025. No one can accurately predict what the price of the pack will be after that date. Still the odds are that the price will go up rather than down.

That’s reasonable. The lowest I’ve seen is $1350 and the usual is $1950 I believe
