So apparently these SE priuses came with 17" rims and 215 45/17 low profile tires. Ummm, I realize it's a prius and don't want to zip around like a punk, or the jolting ride of the 17" low profile tires, let alone the extra cost fo them and I think they get worse gas mileage maybe. I am wanting to put 15" wheels/rims and195 65R/15 tires on the car for comfort ride and smoother. Also the cost of high sidewall tires are generally always cheaper. I think the 17" low profile tires that come on SE versions are an upgrade and not stock. Anyways, I called the dealership and they told me they didn't know and to call tirerack or something...unbelievable. Does anyone here know if I can just get a wheel/tire package for a typical 2013 toyota prius with 5x100 bolt pattern that it picks out and then get the 195 65r/15 tires mounted and balanced and just put them on the car myself? I don't care about the tpms sensors. Any help would be awesome.
Yes I have a 2013 Persona with the 17 to 215 45 17 Right here in the parking lot with 15 factory rims mounted on it right now as a driven around like that forever not a problem at all The 17-in wheels were toast and short order with a woman driving the car so they were all scuffed up and ruined they actually looked like h e l l so those got off the car very quickly and rather than look for anything customer different or whatever I just stuck a set of 15s off of solar roof 2010 they bolted right on same lug nuts and everything speedometer is accurate the whole nine You do realize your outer diameter of all of the wheels and tire packages that go on the Prius are all within a few tents of an inch of each other so the 17s or 24.9 or something diameter The 15s or 24.6 etc those aren't the actual numbers but you get the drift.
Yes you can. Simplest would be to get the stock 3rd (or 4th) Gen 15” rim, plus either the appropriate centre cap or full wheel cover. 2012~2015 Plug-In version had a nice 15” rim, an esthetic improvement over the usual 15” rim. Used in decent shape is preferable, new prices through dealership are preposterous. Our ‘10 Touring (Canadian level) came with 17”. In winter I switch to 15” snow tires. I was using Corolla steel rims, now have the aforementioned Plug-In rims.
Wow, you guys are so great. The info you all have provided is appreciated. I think I will get the 15" wheels and 15" 65R's . Do you think the ride will be more comfortable than the low-profile 45R's on it now? Do you know any sources for tire/wheel packages? (I'm currently thinking tirerack, I can get the tires sent to me already mounted and balanced on the wheels. They want $1128.00 for (4) wheels and tires. Michelin Defender T+H) I wish I could find a cheaper way. I can just bolt them on ready when they arrive. Thanks again for the quick and informative replies.
I got the new 15" wheels with 195 65/15 Michelin Defender T+H it's more comfortable ride, cheaper tires vs. low-profile, better gas mpg Now I got to sell the set of (4) OEM alloy 17" 5x100 wheels with "Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready" tires 215 45/17
Those are not Toyota oem wheels, so you should look into getting appropriately sized hubcentric rings with 54.1mm centerbores for your new wheels. They look great! SM-G781V ?
You must not have read this thread. Those are my new tire rack wheel package pic. My new tires with tire rack's centering ring in all their wheels that need them. Here's the Toyota OEM wheels with some Goodyears on them. There is no doubt these are Toyota OEM.
I was trying to think of a reason to hang onto them, other than in case the whole world ran out of everything. In that case I would just get a horse.
