Our 2004 sat for a month and then would not start. Throws P O A F A code, hybrid system battery voltage low. The 12v battery is charged. This is the only code. Most of the time, the dash lights up -- big triangle and just about everything else -- but the ICE does not start. Sometimes only the check engine light comes on. In both cases the car will only turn off if pressing the start button WITHOUT the brake pedal pushed. Every once in a while, the ICE starts and the car drives seemingly fine, but I am afraid to take it far from home. In this case the triangle and all lights are still on the dash. Given that the car starts and runs normally every once in a while, it seems like there may be a simple problem. If it is really the hybrid battery I am not sure I want to deal with it as the car is not in great shape. Any thoughts?
this is sometimes caused by corrosion of connectors inside the pack. you would have to open it up and take a look.
What data do you have for battery block voltages from the HV battery ecu? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I got techstream working on our other Prius but it gave junk data on this Prius. I think maybe it was because the ICE was not running so the car was not really ON. If I get the ICE going again I will leave the car running and try techstream.
