Only getting about 30 mpg 2010 Prius with sunroof

    Hello. I bought the car used. I recently had the main battery replaced. I thought this would improve the mpg but it hasn’t made a difference. The smaller battery was replaced about a year ago.

    Hi. It’s a refurbished battery with I believe 30,000 miles on it. No warning lights. Everything else seems to be fine shocks, tires etc

    First thing I would do is jack up the rear (there's a convenient rear-center jack point) so the tires were off the ground and test for wheel drag. Spin the wheels by hand and they should spin around a few times on their own, at least. There can be issues with calipers not retracting properly.

    I got 30 mpg in my 76 Honda civic 5-speed w/1.5L engine. IMHO; you've got issues, so take it to a Prius specialist before dumping any more money into it. FWIW; most ICE cars of similar size, built after 2010 will do 35-40 mpg - without the added expense and weight of a hybrid system.

    I think bisco meant the miles on the odometer. That’ll display for 30 seconds or so, every time you shut down.
