So when the generation 2 overheats the only indication you have of this is on the MFD the green car turns red and shows a thermometer? That's the only icon or universal symbol that there is correct??? And maybe the triangle will flash erratically?

Interesting, I've never noticed that... Usually I find out about engine over-heating issue because radiator fan is so loud. And yea, probably goes without saying that minimalist gauges on the dashboard may look easy on the eyes, but it takes way longer / causes more damage to the car because, in this case, most people won't notice the cooling fans running too much on the radiator or notice that little tiny icon compared to a water temp gauge with a red warning light when it gets too hot.

I just noticed that today people have been talking about the generation too has a warning light or something I thought they were talking about on the eyebrow display or our heads up display or whatever we call it but my daughter sent me a picture of the MSD showing the little red car with a thermometer bulb and a temperature scale next to it kind of like an outdoor thermometer you look at with the red ink in it red Mercury whatever. I didn't even know it had that The '09 has been slowly losing coolant and I just haven't had time to look at it and when it loses coolant then you don't get good heat because it breaks prime and the cool it's not circulating and all that nonsense Why was telling her I didn't think there wasn't overheat indication and she sent me this picture and I was like oh well I guess there is there you go.

Or is that green car turning red and showing a thermometer Is that the inverter going into over temp because usually that car turns red when the inverter pump is bad but I've never seen it show a thermometer gauge and the red car so obviously something is overheating or getting hot

I don't know that's a good one I'll probably give it a whirl I guess All it is is the little green car on the multifunction display is red with what looks like to be an outdoor thermometer running along the side of it in red the whole icon is red and it doesn't say anything or anything like that there's no text to go with it when the inverter fails the same thing happens except there's no outdoor thermometer scale next to the red car
