    Good day, all,

I posted within the last week about needing the rear break calipers on my 2011 Prius III fixed. Car has 175K miles. Took it to garage #1 and this was the recommendation.

It was taken to another garage for a second opinion. They replaced the rear calipers...and are saying the car still cannot be driven because the ABS actuator is burnt out. They quoted a price of $3K to $4K to fix. Said in their experience, aftermarket parts for this is a very bad idea.

I have read through the past threads about this being a common problem with the Prius and that the recall does not apply to my situation.

Can someone recommend a good hybrid mechanic in the Boston/Metrowest area for a second opinion about price to replace the ABS actuator? I'm trying to decide between fixing this car and buying a new one - the latter I really don't want to do at this time since I'm the caregiver for someone with a dementia-related illness and may have to stop working in the near future to be a full-time caregiver.

Thank you for your time and any information. I appreciate it!

    Thanks!

I will be getting my car back on Monday and I also own my own code reader, so I can post them.

I don't think this really any aftermarket parts for the break pieces on your firewall generally they're going to come from Toyota if you want them with somewhat of a warranty and what have you It's also recommended that both pieces get replaced unless you are a real heck of a troubleshooter and you can boil it down to the one piece or the other and pretty much know it I probably wouldn't go that route I would get both pieces that's around 1280 to $1,430 or so in my eyes quite costly for this model of car but your car is nice and you want it and all that then you'll do it I don't know anybody in the Boston area I lived in Western Massachusetts for many years and no new quite a few guys over in that area but I'm sure they're all dead and or retired by now Paul Teta May still be around Springfield or his son may be running the business I cannot remember his name he was a teenager when I knew his father Paul. I would think any Toyota Lexus mechanic and/or specialty shop would be able to get you pretty well straightened out at a decent rate
