Getting SiriusXM but no satellite

    I have a 2024 Prius LE. SiriusXM offered me service for $5/month so I signed up. I'm getting the channels, but the car says that it has to satellite signal. We are going on a trip at the end of next month. I want to make sure that the satellite antenna is working because this will likely be the only radio that we can get for a good part of the trip. I've called SiriusXM, reset the radio, and I get Sirius probably over a cell or phone connection according to the infotainment system I'm still not getting a satellite connection.

    Has anyone else had a similar experience. Is there anything else that I might check?

    I would research what kind of service you bought for $5/month. Might be just the internet and not the satellite radio service. I think I am paying more than $5 per month for my SiriusXM service.

    Was it working before your trial subscription ended? If that's the case, there is nothing wrong with the car. I have been paying about $15 for the music-only service since my trial subscription ended.

    There won't be a signal unless you can see the sky or there are terrestrial transponders nearby.

    It is a promo rate that goes to $20/month after a year.
