A few weeks ago I got out of the car, leaving it running, to pitch the garbage in the dumpster. When I got back in and put the car in drive, it would not go. I put it in reverse. It would not go. I turned it off and restarted, and managed to get it in reverse but it wouldn't go forward. I restarted it again, and it worked like nothing had happened. This lasted three weeks. Shortly after, the check engine light appeared. Auto zone checked the codes and said nothing to worry about. A used prius dealer told me don't worry, it is just something that makes your heater hotter in the winter. (I'm in FL and it isn't winter.) Then three weeks passed with nothing else happening, except the check engine light seems to appear and disappear from time to time. Suddenly, turning into a driveway, the car stalls. I restart it and it stalls again. I restart and it makes it up the drive, but the red triangle and check engine light are on. The next day, I go to start it and the lights are back off and the car is running fine. It's not out of oil. The little battery is still good. It sounds like it usually sounds and other than these incidents, drives normally. What can possibly be going on?

It should be easy to find threads on this site that describe how to retrieve the trouble codes from the car to begin to see what's going on.

Check and see if your hybrid battery has got good voltage and it's not leaking to the frame of the car The hybrid battery is supposed to be isolated almost all generation twos that I run into buy get a hold of etc have this problem and very short order and when I open the back and look at the battery I can clearly see why Very common not saying that's your problem but you do need to get a capable scanner and retrieve the trouble codes If you have only a cheap scanner and you're getting basic trouble codes that don't seem to make any sense when your car is doing this clear the codes twice with the cheap scanner does that make the light go off in the car drive until you turn it off again or something similar That's kind of how the isolation fault can work and something to consider just because.

P1121 is a familiar trouble code about a coolant control valve near the thermos at the left fender. It won't prevent the car from driving, though depending on how it gets stuck it can interfere with the cabin heat.

The P2103 is less common, and indicates a problem in the circuit controlling the throttle motor. It definitely will interfere with driving. You can follow the troubleshooting steps here:
