    fellow Prius owners,

I have a 2014 Prius V 5. I changed the inverter pump and in order to do so, I removed the inverter. There were no major problems while trying to remove it (as far as I can tell, nothing broken, no major struggle with anything, etc.) After replacing the pump, I noticed the cable does not "lock" anymore - it comes off rather easily with a slight tug. Furthermore, the car can no longer start. I'm not sure if the two are related or not. Does everyone has any idea? I've enclosed a few pictures of the connector (both male and female ends).

I thought it might be the battery, but I've charged it up to 100%. I also made sure the HV lock is firmly and correctly in place. I also verified all the battery connections are secured.

    Thanks!

If you can’t lock the connector it is not going in correctly.

I would look at the orange seal which may be displaced.

I looked at it again and the orange seal looks where it is supposed to be. I've enclosed a few pictures of different angles. Can you see anything? It just doesn't lock into place and the car cannot start. Are they related?

From appearances, the orange seal should be down-hole, serving as an edge seal on the mating connector.

The orange seal is all the way down (you can see it from the pictures). I don't know if it can be pushed down any further.

Can the orange seal be pushed in tighter to the connector so it edge seals/laterally, but doesn’t impede vertically/axially seating the connector?

Can you explain what do you mean by "down-hole"?

The orange seal is like a rubber band right? It already wraps around the connector. I made sure it was more or less aligned around the entire connector in equal distance. I am not sure why Toyota made it so hard to reattach this connector.

I have quite a bit of experience and knowledge on automobiles, and I tried everything I can think of. I just can't figure out why it is apparently unable to go in all the way. The orange seal seems to be in its proper place because there are grooves where it is apparently meant to keep it from moving. I don't know what else to try; I guess I need to take it into the dealership.

Perhaps the seal is swollen up due to cleaners or solvents. Otherwise I would suspect a bent pin or socket assuming no foreign objects.

Those are designed as tight clearance seals and connectors. I still suspect that orange gasket placement is the issue. It may as suggested, be torn, swollen or partially displaced/dislodged from its design location..

I've attached a picture of the connector. There does not seem to be any bent pins.

Can these seals be replaced separately?

Remove the small orange seal and see if the connector will install correctly. If it does, then you know where the problem is.
