I'm pretty sure you have to get the cooler kinda loose to change the valve, but maybe not completely off.

There's an updated EGR valve part number. The newer valve's a bit larger, needs a slight change to the way the wire harness is dressed, so the plug will reach.

I'm quite curious what they changed in the updated valve, possibly to make it less susceptible to ski jump rutting.

But so far as I know, in these dozen years or so since it was announced, there hasn't been one person who acquired one and posted any pictures of its insides.

Too bad they don’t sell just that little bucket. Maybe email time, hmm.

Still, the email responses I’ve gotten in past from Toyota Canada have been “vague”.

Agreed. The quote I get from Toyota Parts Direct is around $650 for the entire EGR valve assembly (OEM). Doesn’t make sense to get it used due to the labour involved in installing.

Amayama is one hell of a lot cheaper. The original design:

Buy Genuine Toyota 2560137010 (25601-37010) Pipe Sub-Assy, Egr W/cooler. Prices, fast shipping, photos, weight - Amayama

(Cheaper option for me shows: $188.68 CDN, with $50.63 shipping, from Japan)

    And the revised one:

Buy Genuine Toyota 2560137020 (25601-37020) Pipe Sub-Assy, Egr W/cooler. Prices, fast shipping, photos - Amayama

(Shows $198.30 CDN for me, with shipping to be determined)

So far with them, with purchases as much as $100~ CDN, the only charges have been price plus shipping. Nothing extra.

That's STILL a lot though, for a little gouge in the "ski jump". I emailed Toyota Canada, about scoring just the little bucket. Not holding my breath though, lol.

Maybe someone will get on it, seems analogous to the sale of impeller-only, for the water pump.

Thanks Mendel! Amayama looks much cheaper. One point of clarification though... the link and pic you sent look to be the EGR cooler subassembly (part # 25601). If I'm not mistaken, the 'ski jump' is in the EGR Valve assembly (revised), which is part # 25620-37120. Cost w shipping to Canada is $287.17 CAD (still less than half TPD price before shipping). Do I have this right?

Yeah you're right, got muddled on the links.

BTW, I emailed and got a response (from Toyota Canada): no dice on just selling the bucket (with ski jump), with the usual malarkey about economy of scale, very rare occurrence and so on.
