That’s all she wrote; they’re pretty much a used car dealership.

    Wow!

My clueless local dealer in a town much smaller than Vancouver claims to have 201 new vehicles in stock.

People love Toyotas - they can't keep them on the lots:

Toyota Camry Defies the Odds as Sedan Sales Soar in 2024 – Daily Sales Hit Staggering Figures (msn.com)
"In a world dominated by SUVs, Toyota’s Camry is proving that reports of the sedan’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. According to Toyota’s Q3 2024 results, the reliable family favorite is showing no signs of slowing down, continuing its climb up the sales charts. With a 1.7% increase in Q3 sales—amounting to 22,934 units—the Camry remains a dominant force. The real story, however, is its impressive performance through the first nine months of the year, with 227,576 Camrys sold, marking a 4.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

To put it into perspective: from January 1 to September 30, that’s an average of 833.6 Camrys sold every single day. Adjusting for business days and taking into account the fact that many states prohibit car sales on Sundays under blue laws, that number could be even higher.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla has also had a stellar year. Shipments jumped 6.9% through September, totaling 177,092 units. That’s around 648.6 Corollas sold per day. The Corolla offers versatility with its sedan and hatchback variants, including the sporty GR performance model, which has boosted its appeal. Though not available in the U.S., a practical wagon version is sold elsewhere in the world.

But the star of the show remains Toyota’s RAV4, an SUV juggernaut that has cemented itself as the brand’s cash cow. Through September, the “Recreational Active Vehicle with 4-wheel drive” posted a 15.7% increase in sales, with a massive 350,331 units sold. That means Toyota sold 1,283 RAV4s every single day—a staggering figure that solidifies its dominance in the SUV market."

    Did you know:
USA Camry's- are make in Kentucky
USA Corollas- are made in Alabama, Mississippi and Canada
USA RAV 4s - are made in Kentucky and Canada.

The Camry is a great choice.
An individual can't buy a better vehicle than the Camry.

    2025 Toyota Camry Review, Pricing, & Pictures | U.S. News (usnews.com)

Any potential vehicle, I look up the owner's manual, see what the H/V controls are like. Say for example, it's night, twisty road, raining like heck, and I want to direct as much air flow to the windshield as possible. on the 2025 Camry:

Eyes off the road, find the highlighted button:

    upload_2024-10-17_7-26-3.png
Push highlighted button, multtiple times, while scrutinizing tiny LCD display above, trying to decipher the symbols, look for the best Toyota offers, a mix of air to the windshield and feet. Better not rush, or I'll likely go past the one I want, have to repeat:

    upload_2024-10-17_7-29-34.png

I suppose the ship has sailed, on ergonomic controls you can find and adjust quickly, by feel only. It used to be possible. Not that our 2010 Prius is any better, but I'd get the check book out in a minute, if one of the manufacturers would wake up.

    Meh, be happy:

That looks similar, but much smaller than the controls on the 2017 Prius.

Since I'm the family mechanic, I peruse forums not just Toyota but also Mazda, Ford, Hyundai, and VW and must say the "big" problems with Toyota's seems to be those folks have that were built in the 1990's or early 2000's while ALL of the others are vehicles less than 10-years old...many just out of warranty around 4-5 years old...and MAJOR problems, too. I rarely see 20-year old vehicles talked about on the non-Toyota forums so they must all be in a junkyard somewhere!
For the past 2 or 3 years, my son-in-law has been a manager at a very busy auto repair store (Tire World) that does much more than just tires. He knows how much I like Lexus and Toyotas and, the other day, told me his next car will be a Toyota. He sees 20-year old Toyota's only needing minor work to keep going while seeing 5-6 year old other makes needing huge repairs. (And not just from neglect, parts just failing....suspension, radiators, water pumps, bent rods, head gasket failures, transmissions going out, etc.) His shop did $25,000 in repairs a few weeks ago which broke his old record of $19,000 in repairs....folks are keeping their cars longer but are paying a price.

I'll never forget one made-in-Ontario Civic we got: under the hood there were seams between engine bay and fenders. One side had a bead of caulk running along that seam. Other side the seam was bare, and there was a bead of caulking running alongside it, about 1/2" away from where it was meant to be.

Rav4 hybrid made there too. Other than early in new design issues, no problems. Nothing to blame on the build location.
