2025 Camry Official Review Thread

We always like to minimize cost. We keep our cars a LONG time. Still driving the 2000 Tundra LE & 2008 Corolla LE.

My son currently drives a 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE & uses the standard charger. He is able to commute on EV but has the Hybrid capabilities for longer trips. This is what he ended up with as a replacement for his Prius V.

My wife reminded me this could very well be the last time we purchase a new car. <y age keeps creeping up & my wife is fighting likely a losing battle with Cancer.

 

Our next ride, whether used or new will likely be the last xar ourchase as well. The actuaries would say I've only got another 10 years to go. LOL. Then again my dad survived World War ii, heavy smoking and drinking and nearly made it to 97.

I hit 70 this year. Rachel has been suffering a year from brain,.lung, & bone cancer. This has been a rough week. I cannot afford to retire & it looks like I lost my job of 18 years & my 2017 Prius this week. Fortunately I had no passengers and was not injured. The car is likely a write-off. Front passenger door & glass, 2 side curtain airbags & seat side airbag. I saw glass flying low. The 4Runner saw my curtain airbag.

If you can get a good deal on a 24, I would consider it.
We paid msrp last summer, and have no regrets. We’re getting 50 mpg around town, and 48 on our Florida trip last winter.

 

I assume you mean a 2024 HyCam. It looks like they are pushing the 2025. I was just getting a jump start on research. I do not know for sure if the Prius is totalled. I think I may find out in the next week.

We are paying full MSRP but my family & I have trusted this salesman & dealership for 20 years.. I also plan on getting the maximum permitted tint. I expect to take delivery in late November. My 2017 Prius 2 was rated at 52 MPG combined. With a lot of highway driving, its lifetime average ended up at 55.4 MPG. It will be interesting how the heavier Gen 5 Camry compares.

I think you are one of the original HyCam users here. Years ago i had a 1996 Camry but this is totally different.

 

Why the pano roof if you are worried enough about heat to get a tint? When I moved from NOVA to mid NC I wanted to avoid pano roofs and thus got a Canada Rav4 hybrid instead of a Japan built one. Wife has an Avalon hybrid, the Camry's big brother. She loves it.

 

2 reasons.
Years ago, my wife liked the moonroof on our 1996 Camry.
our oldest son's 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE has the 360 view that we thought could help with the increasing blind spots. That feature is only available with the package.

LOL I test drove a Camry Se locally & the clueless salesman stated that Toyota hac been concentrating more on safety than visibility (being able to see outside). My response would be that if they concentrated more on visibility, then safety would be much easier. One reason we bought our 2008 Corolla (now my current temporary driver again) was because.we thought the higher rear shoulders were coming for 2009. They ended up in the US for 2010.

tl:dr : "Happy wife, happy life", especially as she is suffering through cancer than may end up being terminal.

 

Update:
Yesterday I drove the 3 hours to pick up my 2025 Camry XLE FWD with the Premium Plus package.

I must say I was impressed on the 3+ hour drive home. IT was totally much more pleasant than the same first drive with the 2017 Prius Two. The safety features are nicely integrated (with the driver camera turned off).

I can't tell you how much I don't like getting T-Boned and pushed into oncoming traffic lanes. Mine was a 72 charger and hers was her boyfriends Big Blazer, back in the day when the Blazer sold big and small, if anyone remembers the small Blazer. Passenger door and B pillar blending into the quarter panel. Yeah, some of my passenger door glass flew out of my open driver side window, at least the bits that didn't hit me in the face as I watched her floor it out of the hospital parking garage, 3 2 1 bingo. Her husband said he wasn't surprised after hearing about it.
Insurance was another whole story in itself, some other time perhaps.

Im y T-Bone, i was on a 2 lane road that is not very busy & the 4Runner was on a side street wanting to turn left. According 2 him, there were vehicles approaching both ways. He waited for them to clear, looked right, but did not look left to see me. He pushed me into the other lane. I saw some flying glass from the passenger window. He saw my side curtain airbag and panicked a bit.After he saw i was OK, He moved his truck off the road & started diverting any traffic while I tried to figure out how to move the Prius with a disabled Hybrid system.

I do not see it in the manuals, but apparently if you turn on the car & keep your foot on the brake while holding the shifter in Neutral, it eventually releases the parking pawl. The car can them be pushed or pulled onto a flatbed.

 

I see this forum has got even MORE annoying. in addition to the popup ads, you now get a confirmation page when Liking a post.

I will probably become scarce here again and just keep over at ToyotaNation. There is very little content here on the new HyCam anyway. PriusChat will need to work on being more useful as more & more Toyotas move to Hybrid.

Beyond Zero Vision

I really enjoyed my 3 hour drive h9ome, unlike the jarring alert experience at night with the 2017 Prius.

 

I concur; I’ve been trying different browsers on my pc (to remedy site’s current propensity to display attached pics full res), and hooboy what a sh*t-storm of pop ups and ads, when you don’t have an ad blocker.

 

Guess mine must be doing the job. Hadn't noticed

I hope my accident story wasn't too much of a bummer to read, especially after experiencing a similar event so recently. Combined with those trips back and forth to appointments can weigh heavy on us as we battle with illness, treatment and state of mind during and after effects.
Thanks for your contributions to the forum so far, and hopefully maybe some in the future, your content is excellent wherever you decide to post.

Didn't Danny try launching a HiHy and Camry chat in the past?

A change to something like ToyotaHybridChat would help traffic, but would also need a reworking of the organization to work.
