did some searching on the forums before posting but didn't find anything that exactly matched the symptoms.

    230000km (143000mi)

When accelerating, engine braking, or normal braking, especially at speeds 90-110kph (55-70mph), a shudder can be felt coming from drivers front wheel. When changing from accelerating to braking and vic versa a lurch can be felt. Braking in Neutral results in no shudders at all.

At low speeds, a metal squeaking or clicking sound can sometimes be heard from the same wheel. If I had to guess, the sounds are at the same frequency as wheel rotation.

There are no issues on startup or idle so I don't think it's the head gasket. Coolant seems fine. Transmission fluid has not been changed on reccomendation of my old mechanic, spark plugs have not been changed but I don't think that's root cause since this happens when the engine is braking as well.

The no shutters when braking in Neutral is really throwing me off

I would look at the cv joints or wheel bearings

Agree with RJ, I would start by inspecting the CVs. Check for obvious damage like torn boots and flinging grease. Check each joint for play to see if one has more than the rest. If you do have a bad axle I would only replace with OEM, the aftermarket ones are junk.

No harm in doing that though. I think there's something in my signature on it. (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures)

Presumably EGR system and intake manifold never cleaned?
