The roof and areas around the doors of my 2012 Prius started mysteriously peeling recently, and all at once. It's like if you have a sunburn, what happens when your skin sort of bubbles and then peels. We've had real hot temps in southern California this summer and my car is kept outside. Is this normal to see? When I drive around I rarely see cars with peeling paint. Took it to my body shop guy. He sprayed clear coat. A full paint job would be too expensive. Interested to hear the experience of others.
Usually the plastic spoiler loses its clear coat first. Did your body shop sand off the peeling paint first? Was it just your clear coat peeling?
Is it Blizzard Pearl? There was problems with that, took a long time for Toyota to acknowledge and act, but there is recourse now.
My clear on the front bubbled/peeled up. I sanded it down and sprayed it with 2k clear. I should have done a better sanding job, but it looks fine.
