Hi Everyone, I’m coming from a 2012 Gen 3 to a 2015 Prius v. I had the issues with satellite radio and successfully installed a new receiver (on the second attempt part doh). Happy to say I have satellite radio working. Sadly, the antenna mast threads do not fit, it is too big for the receiver. All parts were ordered from Toyota directly and the mast is original. Not sure what to do other than tape it up for now. Going to try to call the dealer that sold me the parts tomorrow. Anyone aware if there could be a Toyota mast with a smaller diameter? Does anyone know what the specs are for the screw? My other casualty was the tie down d-ring bolt over the battery. Snapped in two putting it back in, trying to drill it out but I’m going to take to my local mechanic before I really mess it up. does anyone know the specs or part number to the tie down bolts? Many thanks in advance!
Are you saying you changed the preamp on the roof but now the mast does not fit? If so, it’s possible they sent the wrong preamp. There are three. These were my choices when the preamp went out.
There’s more than one of these? Remove another, take it to a hardware store, try threading it onto their metric nuts, then when you find a compatible nut use it to determine compatible bolt. Or dealership parts department, they’ll be able to get the cosmetically identical one. so you were using your Milwaukee Impact to speed up the job?
I just asked this on another thread, sorry I missed this reply. It seems to be a softer metal not for many re-uses. Did use a drill with a 10mm socket, torqued out very easily. Snapped while using a socket wrench. Thanks for your reply! For reference, the mayday (most expensive) assembly the antenna screw is 6mm. Non-mayday (middle part above, 2nd most expense) assembly takes a 5mm antenna. Toyota has part numbers for both, the more expensive option is the 6mm screw.
THANK YOU by the way! I used your guide and it got the satellite radio back. Just wish I didn't over tighten the first assembly cutting the 4 cords. That hurt...
