Yeah I just need the letter of the law that defines what a hybrid is, the state appears to be taxing anything that remotely resembles a hybrid like vehicle the plug in hybrid tax even though mild hybrids should be exempt per the original wording.

Of course mild hybrids would exempt. Don't want to piss off the Jeep and Ram voters.

For better or worse states are free to enact most any laws they want - ex. see California.

In our state a letter to my Legislative Representative expressing my reservations about any retroactive taxes on individuals who already owned Hybrids/BEV's along with others who expressed the same sentiment seemed to make a difference in a law that was being proposed.

My question is who elected the Representatives in your State who passed this legislation and who will vote for them again.

Often, we end up with the Representatives/Legislation we deserve -Reference our current Federal Government Soap Opera, our exploding National Debt and Current National Election Circus.

Is a letter to your Representative explaining the issues you are experiencing in order?

You can be sure they got many letters on that topic of taxing retroactively. It isn’t fair. Decisions were based on the existing fees. Everyone wants being grandfathered in.
I need to write mine, that prop 19 is probably the most dream wrecking law ever passed on property taxes for existing owners who planned their entire estate based on existing laws.

I don’t think they are, based on this every vehicle manufactured since 1935 is a hybrid or EV as every vehicle on the road “uses” electricity and it makes no differentiation on self generated vrs plug or what it’s using electricity for.

If the intent of the law is using electricity for propulsion my Honda really can’t since the motor generator is welded to the ice crankshaft. Electricity can’t run HVAC, heat/AC or “drive “ the car down the road since it’s using gas at all times.
