I was thinking if there would be different chip in Rav4 or Corolla 2.0L throttle body and it would somehow open more air for my Prius V? Would this makes my car accelerate faster? Or would it work at all? They are all same throttle body but different parts numbers. The second hand ones are cheap enought for trying thought.

Ps. I not type of guy that is on acceleration or speed thing. Coming from volkswaggen bora 1.6 automatic and Nissan Qashqai 1.6 automatic. I just think my Prius V is slow. Im dont know is there something wrong with it or is it just normal?

That would be from the two A or 2AL engine something along those lines I would think that those throttle bodies would be pretty much almost identical The difference in 1.8 and 2 l as far as air flow goes is not going to be a huge increase I doubt your throttle butterfly or plate or whatever barely increases in size if it does it all. Not sure why all the different part numbers but different firmwares maybe whether that would invoke any more aggressive actions of the car systems probably not that's not Toyota's generally trying to do that's what tuners do. Toyota is shooting for the best gas mileage best overall ride things like that for the masses not cutting edge for a few people that want to put their apples in that cart Toyota's looking at selling hundreds and hundreds of thousands of cars not worried about a few guys that want to tweak things to the nth degree so I doubt you'll find anything really going on with throttle body changing and I don't know what you could do to make your Prius v any faster the two z z engine in the Corolla is reasonably decent and quick they've stuffed that engine on purpose for using the Prius and choked it up with EGR and all of this and that just to ring another mile or two out of it but when you do that failure seem to go up and seem to chase you around lot of problems have been reported with this 1.8 with the FXE designation for hybrid duty so it doesn't seem like you want to be doing performance work on this smaller series of hybrid stuff maybe on the 2.5 up or something but then you have reasonable power there so you probably don't need to do a whole lot. The idea of the Prius I don't think is for speed or mods.

Slow - how much is it in units of measurement?
Is it possible to take parameters for the operation of the engine and hybrid systems?

I dont need huge increase anyway. Im happy with small increase. I drive alot on highway dayly to work. I just need some acceleration increasement to be able to drive safely from ramp to highway. There are many ramp on my way to work, that is way this topic is important for me even just for small improvement.

I got good improvement for acceleration by changing air filter to Bosch air filter. Im very happy with this improvements. I just need more thats why I came to conclusion that maybe throttle body would gelp with that. My "Original" filter was some cheap one from dealer.

    Are you using PWR mode?

Slow enought that is I could not get the requirement speed from the ramp to highway.

High quality air filter made good impact on acceleration. Im going to tryi Rav4 throttle body in the near future and let you know the result. Unles you guys have very good argument that this is not going to help or work at all.

Ps. I have already cleaned my throttle body 2 times in 5 month with minimal help on acceleration.

The VW and Nissan brands are power/speed oriented manufacturers; the Prius is optimized for mileage. That means limiting power output to just enough, to get the job done. You can probably get the ECU and TCU reprogrammed to more of a performance based defaults, but you'll be giving up a lot of mpg and probably start breaking things. Modern day ECU controlled engines may be tweaked a lot, but if you don't balance that with the rest of the powertrain tolerances, things will start breaking.

    Just my two cents...

Thanks for sharing. Imnnot interested in ECU and TCU reprogramming. It would be about $500-600 in my country. Like you said it could maybe breaking things.

Late in the day for EGR cleaning; I'd devote attention to that ASAP. See top two links in my signature (on a phone turn it landscape to see signatures).

You may be overestimating what electronics are inside the throttle body itself. Nothing but an electric motor to move it and two Hall-effect sensors to report its position. All control of it is by firmware in the ECM.

    Subjective perception of physical processes.
There are concepts of distance, speed, time, acceleration.
All quantities are measurable and objective.
Check the time to reach a certain speed on an empty section of the track.
Up to 20 mph, how many seconds?
Up to 40 mph, how many seconds?
Up to 60 mph, how many seconds?
Up to 80 mph, how many seconds?
Make several runs in different directions to eliminate the influence of wind and track slope.

What year RAV4/Corolla TB would it be?

I was also looking around for one from another Toyota to slap on my Prius.

I ended up getting a used bored TB from another forum member on here.

It was bored by George (RIP) from MaxBore.com and sold by HybridPit.

Then I added a TB spacer to it.

I must say it is really fun surprising everyone on the road as my prius keeps up with all others on the road and is quick.
