Anyone any idea what this buttons for? It’s on my 2008 Prius T Spirit. I don’t have keyless entry. The door handles don’t have this button. I know the button to open the boot is on underneath where the number plate lights are. IMG_2118.jpeg

That’s the Smart Key System lock button. You can lock the car from the boot.

If you do not have that button on the doors, then most likely someone damaged the hatch garnish and replaced it using what they were able to find. No big deal.

That was my thought too but one question, are you sure you have a T-Spirit? I ask because a T-Spirit should have SKS. If you have, this leads to the question, "What happened to the door SKS lock buttons?" Could the T-Spirit be spec'ed without SKS?

That’s definitely not a UK spec part. I suspect it probably came from an imported Prius which was scrapped and parted out. I’ve never seen that feature on UK 2nd Gen Prius Tspirit’s and I’ve seen practically hundreds of them since I bought mine 11 years ago.

IMG_2129.jpeg This is my actual car. UK spec T Spirit. The panel must’ve needed replacing, and a non-UK part was used. It’s also been painted to match, but the match isn’t super, nor the finish, and the paints cracking.

Yeah then it must've been a part from somewhere else in the world. For us, that's the lock button for the SKS, in addition to the ones on the front doors. Because you're lacking the sensor and wiring, that button is just a dud and they likely just sourced the wrong part number. Not a big deal I suppose. (other than it shouldn't have been coloured in)
