    Additionally, even if you get a used electrical or electronic module, they must be electronically paired to your particular vehicle, which only Tesla can do.

    They have the arbitrary option to refuse, if you did not purchase the part from them and have their technician install it at your cost.

    I have not had delays in repairs.
    I know of multiple 3rd parties that repair Teslas. People that have had their Teslas repaired at these locations rave about them.

    IF Tesla is not following the law, they should be found guilty and. Pay an appropriate penalty.

    i don't understand what technical problems for other mfg's wanting to use tesla superchargers,
    and musks promises sharing tech have to do with parts availability.

    scotty must be shorting stock.

    People said similar things about Prius parts and repairs, especially hv batteries and inverters. The batteries would always be $4,000 and sealed; many parts would be only Toyota sourced at their huge parts department markups.

    After 5 years and 139,000 miles, we have different requirements:
    • Replaced wheel bearings - bought parts from Tesla and installed myself
    • Replaced underbody panels - original plastic impregnated plastic failed, replace with solid, injection molded parts.
      • More road debris - plan to replace with more robust cover and insulate battery bottom.
    • Replaced overhead link with 3d party custom part - awesome, handles latent design defect.
    • Lost access to auto bay workshop, inventing my own.
    So I drove to Dixie Gun Works in Union City TN:
    • 480 miles
    • $33.97 charging costs
      • $15.00 - four bone rib plate In Union City
      • $200.00 - Dixie Gun Works black powder, caps, patches, balls, and conicals
    • Left at 10 AM and arrived 10 PM
      • 45 min - shopping at Dixie Gun Works
      • 45 min - BBW in Union City
      • ~10hr 30min - driving, charging, overlapped walking the dogs
    Just ordinary driving, an errand, nothing special.

    "the reason i won't buy one"

    must have missed it in the video -
    remind us which manufacturer is it modernly? ... where drivers NEVER need appointments? or NEVER have to wait for parts to be ordered (when they get around to it) & then shipped to their service centers? only to then finally get your car in line to actually get service?

    Please - do tell. We're supposed to get our parts in - in just a few more days, hopefully - and then, once that happens, just a few more days until the tech can get to it. And none of our vehicles is a Tesla.

    Maybe this guy has a time machine where he & his car go back to 1955. He pulls in to the service station & 3 guys jump out, one checks his oil, another gases his car up & checks tire pressure, while the third cleans all his windows. (sigh) perhaps I'm too old, because I too - remember when you could go into a service department or parts department & get some obscure part or thing done right away .... the service department & parts departments kept HUGE inventories of everything. Compressor hoses, seat trim ... belts, moldings etc.

    Our service center general manager just yesterday (after waiting hours for a return call) told us he'd poach ... pay somebody $50/hr hour for a tech, if he could find one - anywhere, but he can't. And again - we don't have a Tesla. Let's all welcome Captain Obvious to the world of outsourcing & globalization - who thinks this is just a Tesla problem.

    I had to wait 5 weeks for a Toyota head liner, car was undriveable.
    Got a loaner fortunately

    That is absolutely false.

    Electric vehicles are for early adopters. Like the PC's of the 1990's, they have not matured to the level of the laptops and smart phones that are available today.

    The hybrid vehicle reach total maturity in 2010 and has continued to the most practical option for the mainstream driver.

    What happened by 2010 that signaled hybrid vehicles had reached “total maturity”?

    I had to wait 6 months for a catalytic converter so I gave up, sold the Prius (plug in) to the dealer and bought a Chevy Bolt

    That's only in a C.A,R.B. state. 49 state catalytic converters are cheap and readily available.

    I prefer not to do the aggregate cumulative wait at a charging station that adds up for the life of the car.

    We've never waited at a charging stations for the Bolt...charge at home 100% of the time
    (I prefer to not have to wait at gas stations for my car to fill up)

    No one says you have to. You put that burden on yourself - being an EV hater. But for those who have the common circumstances of charging at home after work, it takes what, 12 seconds to plug in - and another 12 to unplug & wind up the cord? That's way less time then pulling into a gas station between 200 to 300 mile fill ups. There's much greater aggregation and that toxic gas-up process - than in your garage when you get home. But don't let that stop you from being the consummate EV Downer.
