Hybrid Battery Temperature 122 high after 5 miles SoCal

    I drove 5 miles today in 90F on flat ground. After letting the car sit for an hour or two and started driving again the temp was 122
    Dr Prius said im at 50% battery life with no errors.
    2015 with 120k Miles Hybrid battery fan cleaned 5k miles ago.
    It seems I have to run the app to max out fan speeds just to keep the temps in the 110s.
    Is this normal?

    The inside of your car can easily get up to 120 degrees if you park in full sun with windows rolled up on a hot Summer day in Southern California. The fact you were able to get the temp down so quickly is a good sign.

    Try watching your temperatures first thing in the morning or when driving at night to confirm it's not a problem.

    In general hybrid pack overheating is primarily caused when one of the 168 battery cells start to fail and overheats, which then heats up the rest of the pack. So monitoring the voltage difference between blocks and battery temp sensor readings via Dr. Prius App will give you the earliest warning of heat related problems...
