I was recently in China and purchased some custom made window shade on TaoBao for my 24 Prius. These are not perfect fit (the new Prius is not even available in China for test fit) but considering the price (USD $32 for rear and hatch windows) I'm pretty happy and the shades can be easily removed when I need to.
I’m too cheap to spend $500. And I don’t like damaging the defrosting lines when the film eventually fails.
I found this product on Aliexpress. You can select the windows you want to be covered, so that's good. But I am not sure if it is street-legal in NY. Will covering the rear windows and the tailgate window be fine? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256807034495592.html?src=google
I already have a sunshade for the front, but I've been reviewing my options for the rear window. For $32, I'll give it a try and report the results.
This looks like the same thing I got. I live in CA. As long as there's nothing on the front windows I'm fine. And I can see cars behind with the shade on. Not sure about NY but ChatGPT says it's okay.
I've had cars with tinting for 10-15 yrs and never had it fail. You get what you pay for I guess. The shades in your images show a blurry view to me. Get the windows tinted. Buy once-cry once
I've had Heatshield custom-fit reflectors on my previous generation Prius, which are made to fit precisely. They also have shields for all other windows on the Prius. I didn't purchase one for my Gen 5 because the car is rarely parked in the sun. Windshield Sun Shades, Car Window Shades and Car Window Covers by HeatShield: The Original Windshield Sun Shade
