    Hello,

New member here. Guess I need to create some posts before I can start commenting.

Have been keeping up to date on Strawbrad's post regarding heavy duty spring upgrade in 2nd generation. Ordered Toyota Matrix AWD suspension parts for my upgrade last week. Will update with post when I start the spring replacement.

Nice, can you share the link of where you bought, what you bought and how much it cost?

I read all the threads on here and then found this great price of $99 for a Toyota Corrolla front sway bar kit: Front Suspension Sway Bar w/ Bushing Kit for Toyota Corolla 03-19 Matrix Pontiac | eBay but haven't installed it, nor have I figured out what, if anything, I'm going to put in back of car.

Hey Camp....I saw a video on youtube recently where a guy got the rear swaybar from a Corrolla/Matrix/Vibe and installed on his Gen 2. Looked like the corrolla sway bar was only 1mm larger diameter, but it was solid steel instead of a tube and looked to have much heavier duty ends. He also pulled a front sway bar (may have been from a corrolla but I think it may have been a matrix or vibe that was a direct bolt in and was about 5 mm larger diameter.

Yea... I don't remember as clear as I like but before making that purchase a few months back after going through some really old thread on here there was a problem with I think too much oversteer if you do the rear and not the front or even if you do both front and rear, but just right if you only do the front.

But maybe I'm not remembering correctly?

What are your thoughts on suspension stiffening creating too much oversteer or understeer as relates to daily driving in city with occasional freeway?

I don't consider my level of knowledge about the Prius suspension to be good enough for that discussion. The most accurate info I can provide is that my 2007 Touring model (100% stock suspension) handles better than my 2007 non-Touring model. (also 100% stock suspension). I'm not completely certain of everything different between the Touring and standard suspensions, but there is definitely a handling difference. I suppose I could take some measurements and photos of the swaybars/shocks or something.

I do have a set of aftermarket K-Sport Gen 2 fully adjustable performance struts/shocks sitting on the shelf. Got them as part of a "parts package deal" from a guy who had his car totaled due to T-bone accident and parted it out. I think they were originally $1200ish for the set and were only installed for a year or so. I'm not familiar with the brands out there so I don't know the quality. Thought about putting them on the Touring model and then put the touring parts onto one of my base models. Just hasn't been high on the priority list and not completely sure I want to deal with major suspension changes.

Here is a link to the AWD Matrix rear suspension: ebay pn# 204657197781
And a link to the front suspension: ebay pn# 125775087405 (I am unable to post links due to being a new member)

I found it was easier time wise for myself to order a complete set of rear suspension to harvest the beefier springs and spring perches.

A problem I noticed on the aftermarket Matrix rear suspension. The perches appear to be welded to the shock body. The OEM perches appear to be simply pressed on. I would imagine I will have to saw off the perches to harvest versus just using a deadblow hammer.

I would be interested in learning about upgrading the front sway bar and/or rear sway bar on a 2nd generation prius. I am interested in the stronger springs for increased hauling. I want to carry around a toolbox and tools in the trunk compartment. Currently my prius has the "Carolina squat". Not a good look for a prius.

I have bought ~160$ in suspension components so far. Will update with progress when I receive the components.
