Is your check engine light on? I would get another scan from somewhere else and figure out what current codes you have and go from there. As Chapman confirmed it doesn't really make sense that you're getting a check hybrid system light with no 'current' codes. There is no use guessing or messing with anything until you have a direction..

Are you driving it? If so, besides the idle thing does it have any drivability issues? If not, I wouldn't drive it... just asking.

The idle thing could be normal, the car has different idle speeds based on different conditions.

For a cheap code reading option, I would recommend the $10 blue OBD2 bluetooth dongles sold on amazon. You can a find free app for your phone that will read codes (I like Torque for android and CarScanner for IOS). You can use them to get more helpful data as well, or on other cars. Generally money well spent if you own a OBD2 car.

    Thanks, Chapman.
I used the free version of Dr Prius, but I only saw battery conditions. I did not notice a main menu to check ERG valve, etc. I have reconditioned my battery and I am not getting codes related to the battery. Maybe the paid version will tell me about my current codes. Next is Hybrid Assist. I use an iphone which will not work. Torque Pro might work for me. However, I have T S but it will not connect. After the heat wave is over, I will try to get it working.

The check engine light is not on. The yellow triangle and the Check Hydrid Sysyem come on. If I disconnect the 12 volt battery, they get reset.
My ICE runs and stops, runs an stops (it is parked). These 2 indicators just came on when the ICE was not running which surprised me. If the problem is the EGR valve,(as I thought) why would it come on when ICE is not running? After I bleed the brakes, I think that I will start driving the car and I might get more clues. I do think that my problem is intermittant.

Try CarScanner ELM OBD2 by Stanislav Svistunov. The free version should read any DTC's, full version is $7 I think. The best clues will come from whatever the Check Hybrid System light is trying to tell you (via trouble codes) and you could maybe avoid getting stranded if you figure that out before driving it.

An EGR issue would be detected by the engine control module, and light the check-engine light.

The lights you have indicate trouble codes in the power management control ECU. A code scanner able to read those codes would show what the fuss is about.

    Thanks, Eddie 25
. I will check it out. I have a FIXD plug-in for bluetooth iphone. I think that ELM is just another communications link. I will download the Stanislav Svistunov software and check it out.

And thanks Chapman. I will go to a small shop in my area where I will not get over-charged. (unless I can get my T S to connect.)

I have gotten a lot of good info. Thanks for your help.
I will get decent OBD2 software to learn more. I have no Android, so am limited to iphone or Windows 10.
Meanwhile, I have a yellow triangle, and CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM but no check engine light.
I bought license plates today. The car runs and drives--often only on the battery. Super quiet! I was surprised at the power it has.
I did not mention that I replaced the booster and booster pump and only bled the brakes without software. My VSC, brake and anti-lock lights are on. I understand why those lights are on and will either fix them myself or pay a local garage.

This was something you SHOULD have said at the beginning!
Since you did not bleed the brake system correctly, you will have this issue!
Once the brakes are bled correctly, your issue will likely be resolved.

Maybe just let dealership do that?

I did not mention the brakes lately because I thought the brakes have nothing to do with the hybrid system.
I bled the brakes and they work well, but the brake light is still on. The car will pass inspection if the ABS light is on, but not the brake light.

Your brakes will not work correctly. There is air in the system.
There is a process that must be completed after changing those brake parts for the
computer to read that everything is working correctly. The brake system is part of the
hybrid system. Thus the error codes.

It's like saying there is a lot of oil leaking from my oil drain plug.
And not saying you didn't install the oil filter housing.......

When you only give bits and pieces, you cannot expect to get a complete and correct answer
to the issue(s) you are having. The Prius is a different machine....

What are the trouble codes from the brake system? I haven't seen that info yet, so I don't want to jump in with what the cause is or isn't until then.

If there isn't a scan tool handy that can read them, this works: Blink (a/k/a Flash) Codes – How to. | PriusChat
