    Hello!

I am new here and not very tech and car savvy, please excuse any confusion!

The regular battery on my Plug in Prius 2013 needed to be replaced. Ever since the Eclipse car audio system (AVN 112 MRC) which also includes the rear parking camera is displaying the following message (in Japanese, translated it with my iPhone): "Please put in the SD card or program update media."

The problem is that I bought the car used from a dealer that imports cars from Japan - there was no SD card supplied. I have contacted the dealer but I bought the car 5 years ago and they could not help.

Is there anything I can do other than having a new unit fitted?

    Many thanks!

The SD card is likely for Japanese navigation which might be why it wasn't included. Since it's an aftermarket radio, why not install another one locally so that you can have local navigation (and local support)? Granted it's an extra cost but hopefully not too pricey nowadays.

I find with imports, it's hard to get any extra support because a number of these vehicles were sold "as-is". We've had issues in Canada with Japanese imports where buyers were only given 1 key and they can't get a 2nd one programmed so if they lose the key, the car is essentially a brick. It was a Toyota too and Toyota Japan said they can't program another key unless the vehicle was physically in Japan.

Thank you! I was hoping there might be a way to reset it completely, it would be such a waste to throw out a perfectly good audio system and parking camera. But I guess I have no choice! (Thankfully we have had no other issues with the Prius and we have 2 keys for it.)

I suppose if you really wanted to, you could put it on ebay or something but then it'd have to be shipped back to a buyer in Japan.
