I've heard white was the worst color after black for keeping clean, but maybe that was more for the solid whites, and is less so for the pearls.

My mother's old TL had a slightly different shade of white on the bumpers. Dealer said it was because it was plastic instead of metal. The colors of the material and primers can effect the appearance of the final color top coat.

We just fell into Classic Silver Metallic, because it was on the lot, on a level we liked. Worked out well; still looks like new.

At this point I probably wouldn’t refuse white. Nice to hear you are enjoying your new Prius!

Hi again. What color interior did you get? I requested the gradient black because the photos on the website make the gray look very pale light gray.

I presently have a gray leather interior in my 2009 which I like. Not too hot in the summer. The XLE Prius videos I’ve watched on YouTube show an interior that looks somewhat like my gray leather but I don’t know which color this is. Thanks!

Oh, I haven’t gotten it quite yet (but I’m dreaming of the day I get to pick it up)! It’s unfortunately still sitting at the port on a “30-day” QC hold. Hoping to hear any day now for an update.

I opted for the black interior. I wasn’t a fan of the gray either, I especially disliked the perforated look in that color. Something about it to me looked “cheap”. I’ve heard that even in black, though, Softex supposedly doesn’t get quite as hot as leather interiors on warm days.

Was the gray interior you were possibly seeing the cloth version? Or maybe it all comes down to lighting/camera quality? I’ve seen it look gray in pictures while it almost looks white in some videos.

Oh I was certain you were already driving it. : } Hope it arrives soon!

I called a dealership that sponsored one of the videos and they confirmed the dark charcoal color is black softex. The camera lighting causes the black to look like a dark gray (my preference). He also confirmed I would hate the gray softex. : ) Light shade and any mishap would be quite visible.
    Thank you!

All Gen 4/Gen 5 Prius/Prius Prime colors are metallic.

There's no way to know for sure without checking with the paint company or a hardware store that sells the paint. Cutting edge could be a fancy name for a regular silver, but it might also use cutting edge technology to create a special metallic shine. Your best bet is to look for a paint chip or description that mentions metallic or ask someone who knows about the paint line.

I’ve now seen it in person multiple times and it’s definitely more sparkly than the silver of previous generations. I would describe it as having maybe slightly bigger flecks of metallic silver. Probably a poor description. :} It’s nothing like what it looks like in some of the Toyota ads I’ve seen which make it look more like steel. At night it does have somewhat of a steel look from a distance which looks really sharp.

It is. I saw a Camry in the showroom in that color last Saturday while waiting for my oil change. It looked almost silver and almost white at the same time.

Cutting Edge-FTW Of course it was the only color I had that came in AWD when the dealer took delivery of the one. I would have chosen the yellow/gold color had it been available.

This is about right. It's not quite the same as the old silver color but it's still fundamentally silver. I think it looks a bit sharper than the silver 2007 I had, but then I'm likely biased towards the newer vehicle. The contrast looks really nice with the black accenting, though.

And yeah, the editing/post-processing in Toyota's promotional media is really weird and the colors look way off. (n)

A neighbor of mine has the silver with glass roof. It looks great, imo.

Of course it is entirely different. There are a thousand different silver paint jobs out there.

Classic silver metallic was a whitish silver. Cutting-edge silver is a beigish silver.

And the titanium glow was a silverish and pinkish gold.

I doubt there is any Toyota paint job that is not metallic. Even if there is no metallic in the name, there are typically small metallic flakes in the paint.

The only way to judge it for yourself is to see it for yourself in person.

Cutting-edge silver: more beigish, less whitish, less metallic, and more flat than the classic silver metallic:

Classic silver metallic (my 2020 Prius Prime XLE in the dealer lot on the day I purchased that I traded in for my blue 2021 Prius Prime Limited a year later): more whitish, more metallic, and sparklier than the cutting-edge silver:

Not the best lighting, but I think red and black are the best Gen 5 colors.

Since the car I ordered has 17 inch wheels with the unappealing black/grey covers I thought the contrast with the silver metallic would make them look more acceptable.

I think black is the most timeless. You look at older Toyotas, and I personally think blacks age the best. Yes, they run hotter (partially mitigated with ceramic tint) and collect dirt easier, but god damn they look sexy when clean.
