Hello everyone, I had not had the opportunity to drive a Toyota and of course less a Prius, before getting it in Mexico, I loved it in videos and in all of them, of course from Japan and the USA, and in all of them the central rear DRL lights They appear on, in Mexico they do not turn on, I suppose only because one day they will activate it at an agency cost, for now I am sending you the hood and cabin fuse box in the photo, in case anyone has the one where these lights do work, try to make them turn on, since for aesthetics and safety I would prefer them on, if it turns on in your Prius, share a photo of said fuse areas and I think it will be easier to turn them on in my car and more from this forum
The central lights aren't fitted on lower trims, and I suspect that may be the situation here. If you do have the lights, then you can turn them on with the headlight control stalk. Thread about light upgrades here - someone on that thread from Mexico says that neither of your trims have the lights fitted.
Different country, with different regulations? Daytime running lights were introduced as a safety measure, and at least on our Canadian spec vehicles were simply high-beams on, at reduced brightness. I understand in the States and elsewhere they became separate lights, and a “vanity” feature?
If you read the actual post, not just the title. He's not talking about daytime running lights - he's talking about the central tail light. (Or does that actually count as DRL in the US? Not in the EU, and isn't activated by the DRL function).
Hello, yes it is actually a daytime running light, only in the version of the Prius for Mexico it is deactivated and as you can see in my images of the first text there are some relays and fuses missing, which without a doubt one of these is the one that the active, for my part I would like it to work since the active lighting seems insufficient to me, the central light that I mention is the one that in American and European versions, obviously and Japanese is active, if someone shares an image of their fuse box cabin and hood, perhaps we can at least reach the conclusion of why they do not work in Mexico and as Mendel says, even out of vanity, it is a light that enhances this model.
There's more information on the thread I linked, but not actually that much, I guess, reading it again. It's possible Mexico or US wiring is different, but in Europe, the 2 LEDs driving the central light function as tail lights and are attached to the same fuse (7.5A TAIL) and relay as the other 2 LEDs. So this probably isn't a fuse issue - you are likely missing the necessary wiring harness in the hatch, the LEDs themselves and maybe even some reflectors in the light assembly. You could probably order replacement Toyota parts for those to get the tail light (not DRL) function, but I haven't seen reports of anyone doing it, and it could easily end up being $1000 or more. But at least I don't think you need anything outside the hatch itself. Actually, scrub that, I think I recall from another thread that decided that there were things missing on a main harness so you didn't have the necessary TAIL wiring reaching the back of the hatch. Still, I imagine you could figure out some custom solution and squeeze in some extra wiring, maybe.
That is a nice cat. Some Gen 5 models (like the LE/SE in the US) do not have the light bar in the back, and there is no cheap/easy solution for it.

As everyone mentioned, it is not "deactivated" the lights doesn't exist at all, you gotta get the parts and install them, which are around 600 USD or 15k MXN, ask on your car dealer.
