I have a "Touring Edition" Prius. Can't believe I don't have factory DRL (daytime running lights). Who would think of having all the stuff we have, on a touring and not come with DLR?

I would like to see about making DLR so I don't have to turn on the lights and have the dash dim, then have to keep switching the dash lights on past the click.

I got the car with the fog lights broken, just replaced them today. They are listed as, Fog/daytime running lights.

I was hoping to be able to leave the fog lights on in the daytime but they don't work independently of the headlights. Again, can't believe they would make it like that?

Any way to make fog/daytime running lights daytime running lights?

Can't understand why Toyota would make a touring edition without them. Or, not have the fog lights independent of the lights. The switch it separate.

To be clear, the fog lights can be turned off with headlights, but you can't turn them on without them.

Anyway to get DLR that's not complicated?

    Thank you,
    ebm

Of course you can wire the fog lights up directly to come on whenever you turn the car on The ignition's on the fog lights are on and mine has 6,000k what are the h3 bulbs or whatever's down there I put them in LEDs they're bright and they match my LEDs in the headlights perfect and they can easily be wired up with a wire so that you can either put them on a switch if that's your thing have to remember to turn them on or they can come on with an ignition controlled wire that you can pick up all over the car practically.

That model was designed more than 17 years ago. The Prius line didn't start adding DRLs until 2012. And not retroactively to your year.
That is a legal requirement in some states, so believe it. Maybe federal too? So getting the configuration you want is an aftermarket DIY matter.

Like most other factory fog lights, they probably aren't even "real" fog lights, just decorative vanity lights. Back when I first put real fog lights on a car, they were not 50-state legal, just 48 states. So when finally getting a car with factory "fog" lights many years later, they turned out to be just decorations, configured to be 50-state legal. I don't know how laws have changed since.

Here you go, you can use the amber parking lights, or wire this DRL module from webelectric to your foglights.

If you wire the module to your foglights, then you don't have to bother with the turn signal function in the module.

Pretty much since the beginning of time, it’s been illegal to have fog lights wired to be on without low beams.

concur, fog lights Toyota uses are useless.

Does anyone know if these are on, does it dim your dash lights?

The main thing I want is to have some kind of lights on but not have to keep turning the dash lights past the click and back each day/night. We already have enough problems in the gen 2 with that instrument cluster going blank. I want to not touch that as much as possible.

Another way would be to wire up the fog lights right to a ACC, but I'd lose the ability to use the switch. This link looks like a good idea.

Use the switch to do what You don't have fog lights till you put the low beams on unplug the low beams fit your own little wiring harness and run it to a wire that's on anytime the car is on that ends all the problem The switch I still use to turn the lights on and off and to make turns for the turn signals I don't worry about the little fog light dude Dad they're on permanently now.
