2024 Toyota Tacoma i-FORCE MAX Specs Revealed

    This might come as a shocker but Toyota Canada has revealed the EPA detailed mileage specs on the 2024 Tacoma with the i-FORCE MAX hybrid power train.

    The US press release says up to 24 MPG EPA but doesn’t go into details. The Canadian site lists the following:

    “The Tacoma iFORCE MAX brings all the power and capability midsize truck fans love with a fuel consumption ratings of 10.5/9.9/10.3 L/100 km (city/highway/combined) for part-time 4WD models (TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro and Trailhunter) and 10.3/9.7/10.0 L/100 km (city/highway/combined) for the full-time 4WD Limited model.”

    So the table would say:

    So I guess if you round it off 23.5 mpg is 24 mpg :whistle:. The Limited trim is the cruising Tacoma, so even though it has full-time 4WD, it’ll get the better mileage, especially on the highway. The i-FORCE MAX is optional on the Limited, TRD Sport (US trim only), and TRD Off-Road. The Canadians have released their pricing but not the US side yet.

    Doesn't look like we've come very far (23mpg) .... if/when comparing our equally heavy land barge Pacifica plug-in. A similarly heavy plug in format easily gets double that kind of efficiency due to its 33ish electric miles. Yeah yeah, Toyota supposedly didn't think to acquire long-term traction pack sources & eventually they will.
    And yea yea 20mpg vs 23mpg is 13% better. but still ..... it's only 23mpg ...

    These are Toyota’s power hybrids, which includes Hybrid MAX, not exactly noted for their efficiency. They are more noted to cover for the turbo lag on the engines at low speed and to add extra off-line power. Toyota is in the middle of a build out based on some of articles posted by @John321 in other threads.

    B+ for the effort.
    maybe it was unfair to compare it to ramcharger's 14,000Lb towing, 600+hp ... 4 second ¼mile time, DC QC, & more than double the efficiency when it's running out its 100+ electric miles
    (Unofficial MPGe is 53 in EV mode).
    At least Toyota will sell it for less.

    Efficiency isn't the goal at this stage for that audience. Toyota is taking on the most difficult to appeal to shoppers, those "over my dead body" consumers. i-FORCE MAX forces the paradigm of ICE sunset. Advancing the entire fleet forward is what those "all in" legacy automakers have not addressed. They are still focusing on low-hanging fruit. Their status quo remains. Having 100% of Toyota customers owning vehicles with a battery-pack sets the stage for a much easier next step... plug-in hybrids for the most demanding consumer vehicles... pickups.

    Since they all have the same double cab and 5' bed, except for the Trailhunter with optional 6' bed, they all tow 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) which is slightly less than the gas only versions which are 6,400 to 6,500 lbs (2,903 to 2948 kg).

    The EPA doesn't like decimals, so the window sticker will be 25mpg in the US.

    It's about increasing the old V6 performance with less cylinders.
