It’s been doing this for quite a while, like 50k-100,000 miles. Mostly want to make sure it’s not leading to ultimate serious failure.

when accelerating, right as you push on the pedal, there’s a click and then once rolling there’s nothing again until you basically come to a stop and then reaccelerate. Is it maybe a spindle getting sloppy or something in the engine ? Feels like it’s almost right under the pedal. If I jack the car up and manually turn the wheel, I can somewhat reproduce the sound

Nevermind, you can delete thread. Found out this is a typical sound and nothing can be done about it. Sorry

I don't have any of that even on my broken down 13 persona or 2010 solar roof car The car's falling apart all around itself but never any of this drivetrain noise till the head gasket goes and the engine starts clunking and clanking around but that has nothing to do with anything to do that's connected to the front wheels generally speaking so that's quite interesting our generation 3 Prius was very smooth going down the road never a problem Toyota quality throughout It was only the engine and or the brake parts generally over 150,000 mi but other than that even with the crappy interior trim and whatnot The car was reasonably a good daily driver until it wasn't but that was all engine and or the expensive brake parts not making the noise but failing the car and of course this took me out of two generation 3s because doing this work and fixing the mess just wasn't the sound decision the rest of the car is falling apart around itself The part where I live and sit the interior which is more important to me than the perfect condition outside of the car that's what you see I live and utilize where I sit and in a generation 3 that seems to fall apart very quickly part of the planned obsolescence I do believe.

You guys are really trying to jinx me here….. this is my work car and I’ve had it since around 50k miles and I have many more than that now. Haha. Mostly all hwy miles and she’s been a heck of a car for me. I have no complaints at all. Replaced one front hub and had an ignition wire fix are the only issues I’ve had. I drive 30k miles per year usually and I love the money it generates for me.

found plenty of forum chats with same clicking sound that is supposedly something of an annomoly that no one exactly knows what causes but maybe be a 1/16” gap in something with drivetrain and regen mechanisms. Everything I read was enough to put my mind at ease and I’m good with it.

I plan to drive it to 300k or as close as I can get to it and then find another Prius or something that gets 50 mpg or better.
