You're not going to like it. lol

They've mentioned it a few times, but they call their car: PPPXP(Pretty Prius Prime XSE Premium).

Wait for a gas price bump. Prime inventory / pricing is still crazy. I waited a year and lucked out with a used one, but am still subscribed to Carmax notifications and keep getting pings for non-Prime LE for the same price or more than I paid for Prime SE. Haven't seen a single Prime ping from Carmax in 6 months. Good bit of Rav4 Primes and recently even NX450h+, but prices are above new MSRP.

@Gokhan and @Mendel Leisk: Sorry, PPPXP is my own creation, I should put it in parentheses more often when I use it. Well, my wife had some input too. It stands for *Pretty* Prius Prime (XSE Premium). A nod to the generally accepted improved styling of the Gen5. I'm an engineer, so I don't entirely get it, but not going to argue. I never had any objections to Gen1-3 styling at all and really did like the looks of my Gen1--not a majority opinion! :)

I have been driving my wife's Gen3 for a while this week and yea, realizing how much nicer the Gen5 is. I'd have no problem going back to it if I had to for some reason, but feeling very spoiled by my PPPXP.

And I should have been more clear in my post that my "you're not going to like it" comment was not a value judgement on your choice of nickname; it was just that I know how much Mendel dislikes acronyms. (especially super specific ones) ;)

@Gokhan: To your other questions, yes I got the silver. The avatars on the side are pretty small, but there it is along with the other two Prii.

To get my car I was on several waiting lists, but the one that I scored was last August when the local dealership got a batch of them and two people who had orders chickened out. I got a call and was there 15 minutes later and one had already sold--a guardian grey one. The only reason for a test drive was to check out the instrument cluster. There was so much hype about its location I was worried, but that wasn't an issue for either of us. Yea we got pillaged a bit, but not terribly bad and are happy.

My least favourite acronyms are mispelled ones, say about the ERG system. Or misapplied, say the PVC valve, lol. Redundant ones are on my poop list too, say ICE engine.

You're making a very big assumption. These aren't the Prii of yesteryear. The G5 is a VERY satisfying car at a VVEERRYY reasonable price compared to the typical. It's also being called the most environmentally conscious car you can buy all things considered. Yes, more than EV's.

I still make it a point to take my car through the twisties. It still puts a big smile on my face. Same for hand washing it. Home run Toyota!

That screenshot shows just a few minutes of driving at a speed that would be in the neighborhood of 30 mph average. The 7-year-old $9,500 volt will do over 120mpg at that speed.

Well my screenshot shows varied speeds (up to about 50mph), with many stop lights and normal acceleration (top of eco range). Excellent weather with windows down.

Definitely not 91. I'm also not blinding people with ugly when they pull up next to me. ;)

Saw a 5th gen a few days back, going out of Walmart parking lot. Gave a thumbs up to the driver.

Sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference between one of the Teslas and the darker Prius models. In low light the lettering on the rear deck is very hard to see. I'm seeing a couple of Gen 5 models per day this month. One is a company car (complete with advertising wrap) that a home care nurse drives to a neighbors house daily. :)

My neighborhood has an abnormally high number of "clean air" cars. There are 3 of the 2012 era PIPs on one block. More than half of the cars in the neighborhood are BEV or PHEV.

What surprised me most is that 4 out of 5 complements that I've received have mentioned the 19 inch rims. Most of them have been disbelieving that it is a Prius. I expect to see more sales soon.

That's cool about the company car!

You live in CA, so that explains it. I'm in FL now, and such cars are more rare. Just trying to buy a Prius here is hard, with many dealers not having in stock inventory, but in transit, build phase, or pre sold ones.

In many cases, you can put a refundable deposit down on one of those that are "in transit" or in the build phase. The "pre-sold" cars are also subject to unexpected cancellations.

That is how it works here in Kansas. You put down a deposit on a car that was coming to the dealership (mine was non-refundable if the car was delivered to the dealership), and 2 months later, you have the car you ordered. Most aren't asking a premium because most of us let them know it was a no-go.

Thanks, but yeah, am not getting one. I already have a 3rd gen, and just bought a new CUV. Saying that, if I sell the old 3rd gen (am still too sentimental to part with it) and am looking for a second car, I think this one would be the first choice. Probably the Prime version, as I am into PHEVs now.
