I recently installed XLE/XSE/Limited headlights on me LE! Everything worked except the turning signals, since the turning signals on the LE is external versus the XLE/XSE/Limited headlights has their turning signal integrated with the DRL boomerangs. I realized that the LE headlights have 3 pins in the harness, while the XLE/XSE/Limited headlights has a 4th pin. So I bought a new harness and soldered the wires together to get a the turning signal to work!
I found used headlights on eBay going from $600-$1000 each. I spent around $1500 for both. The wiring harness I bought were about $20 each so I spent around $1520 to do this. I'm planning on selling my LE headlights (around $500 each) to recoup some costs.
Good job. What is the difference? I know the turn signals have different shapes and the accent light is located differently, but I can't recall the exact configuration.
I found it. The main difference is the turn signal, which is very cheapo on the LE/SE. Are you going to get the bumper accent light as well?
Hi ryan, One of my headlight got 2 very small rock chip. Is there a way to fix them? I have comprehensive insurance too...you think I can ask insurance to replace it if can't fix it? Thank you.
If they are very small, they will probably be considered normal wear and tear and not covered by insurance.
The turning signal is different. But also, if you wanted to boomerang to be on while driving on LE, you'd need to turn on the parking lights. When you use the parking lights, it dims your digital cluster and the headunit screen which during the day would be hard to see. The DRL for the LE is the lowbeam head light, but the DRL for the upgraded headlight is the boomerang.
