I see a supplier advertising lithium replacement cells with same form as stock. About $2,200. I will assume the BMS can cope with different chemistry so this mod seems an acceptable solution.

    I see junk yards battery packs "2016-2018 LITHIUM-ION G9280-47150".

Understanding this is type 4 and suppose the form of the cells are different than the earlier ones but is it feasible to swap the pack? I'm prepared to deal with back size and mounting differences. What are the electrical considerations? Plug connectors are easy differences to adapt to.

Please give us more details? There are some Gen3 with OEM Lithium, but not very many of them... It's highly unlikely these battery cells are different than OEM and you'd likely need the Toyota BMS for Lithium to make use of these cells.

The post is too vague... need more details to see what's up with them to give you a definitive answer... but you know you could go to Aliexpress and buy cells on that site to make one? To reach my 50kWh goal I'm considering a form of it but I am trying to get a bz4x battery and use those higher capacities smaller sized cells..

    Hi.
I'm 100% sure. You gave me information about the plugin.
Standard Prius with lithium battery has the Panasonic 3.7V 4.6Ah.
The problem is not in the cells, but in their number, believe me, a standard lithium battery will not work instead a nickel one.

Agree. A standard one don’t cone with a cold temp cut off sensor either.
