Do you close the charge port door against the cable so it doesn't protrude as much when opened?

Following a post made earlier about someone looking to replace their charge port door because someone backed into it while it was opened, I wondered who else closes the charge port door against the charge cable so it doesn't protrude as much when opened? I always find that door extends way too much and easy to bump into.

Yep, that would be the prudent thing to do. It also blocks most debris string around in the wind from dropping into your charging well.

If you break your door, you won't be able to start the car - unless you bypass or fool the door sensor. Then you'll have to color match and paint your new door. A real PITA.

Yes, since day one. Especially if you have kids around; they usually don't pay attention to what they are doing. Since my charge door faces the garage wall, there isn't any traffic on that side of the car. Lucky me!!:D:p:LOL::love:

I always close it up against the cable to keep it as safe as possible. It doesn't seem like it would take much to damage the door.

    Yes always.
I saw an Audi charging with a flag door fully open ready to be broken. Then there is often denigrated Ford.

    But not the Lightning.

So, same company but two very opposite charge port door design. I like the top one but the Lightning? What the hell? There is no ready for it to be so big. Maybe to play on the subconscious where big truck needs a big charge port door? Since the Lightning is so high, they could have put the door swinging upward instead and using it as a weather cover like this
