What kind of 12v battery do I need for a 2010 Prius? And does Walmart carry them?

Agreed...here is mine. I was wondering if the venting tube could be spliced to make it longer so it could reach the right side of the Walmart battery where the vent hole will be if I install it backwards so that the positive terminal is at the front left as shown here...?

The Walmart battery has the vent hole on the left side (positive terminal end of the battery) just like your existing battery.

This Walmart battery...? It has a vent on the positive side too...? That would be awesome! This Walmart ad doesn't show that side to know and I admit to not driving all that way (20 some miles I stated in a previous post) to actually see one.

You can easily splice the hose and extend the hose around the battery.
Not sure how long that battery will last.... walfart has really gone cheapo on
    the batteries.

Yes, it has the vent on the positive terminal end of the battery. Take a look at the 5-star review written by Richard dated 1/5/2024 titled "2013 Prius 12v Battery " on the Walmart website.

This Walmart battery is the same as the DieHard EV battery that Advance Auto Parts sells for $269.99 in my location. Advance Auto gives a 3 year warranty on their version of the battery. There are additional pictures on the Advance Auto website that Walmart does not show. Here is a picture showing the positive terminal end of the battery.

I can confirm the Walmart battery has a vent port close to the positive terminal. The one on the other side only looks like a port, but is solid plastic and sealed off from the outside.

Funny, the battery says 4 year warranty, free replacement...
Tag says 3 year warranty, 3 year replacement.
Wonder which one it is?(n)

The tag in the picture is for the Maxx 51 size battery (500 CCA) which is a different battery from the Prius size S46B24R battery (410 CCA) on the self above the tag. So the battery on the self is in the wrong location relative to the tag. The Prius size S46B24R battery has a 4 year warranty.

Below is the description of the Prius size S46B24R battery from the Walmart website:
    • Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) technology
    • 4 year free replacement warranty
    • Cold cranking amps: 410
    • Reserve capacity: 75
    • Voltage: 12
    • Free battery testing and installation at your local Walmart Auto Care Center. If you need to get rid of your old battery, there is free battery recycling at your local Walmart Price shown does not include the Core Battery charge (varies by state). Automotive battery purchases placed on dotcom will have core fee refunded with a gift card once battery cores are returned to stores. Selection and ratings can vary by store.

FYI - As shown above, just purchased the Everstart Platinum AGM S46B24R at Walmart and installed in a 2013 Gen 3 Prius. It is a perfect fit. The vent hose is properly located on the left side of the battery as viewed in the vehicle when installed. It fits with the same orientation and has the same posts as the TrueStart version. $180 plus tax and core charge. Includes the 4-year warranty.

It is a nightmarish experience to use the local dealer's website to identify the proper battery. They provide minimal information and advise that their recommended battery part number may not fit. They don't even show a picture of the battery or give any specs. 'Image not available' You can call them and again, usually one of the worst customer service experiences. Kind of like saying you can never go wrong with a megamillions winning lottery ticket. You just have to get that winning ticket.

    It's a 12volt Battery for a 20?? Prius. NOT that hard.
A simple phone call would do it.
Just charge it at 4 amps for about 6 hours. They don't charge them...

Looks like the shelf pricing tag is for the Maxx 51 battery with the 3 year warranty but they have stuck the price for the S46b24r on it which is also above it on the shelf which has the 4 year warranty.

Wow. 8 years on a TrueStart battery. Outstanding. Although not that surprised since you never hear people knocking TrueStart.

8 years is the warranty. Some have gone longer, some shorter.

The Toyota TrueStart battery warranty is 84 months (7 years), NOT 8 years. Free replacement in the first 24 months, and it is prorated from 25th month to the 84th month.
